Before arriving at Casona de Amandi I had thought that the hotel was overpriced but having now stayed there I think that it is if anything underpriced for the quality of the building, surroundings and service. This is a simply lovely place. The building is historic and decorated appropriate for its age. There are extensive seating areas inside, some with cupboards full of books and others with access to the outside. The grounds are huge and well cared for with seating dotted around under the eaves and on the lawns. It is in a word, beautiful. My room was a standard size with a queen bed, small table and chair. The window opened on to the street but Amandi is such a quiet village that there was no undue noise even when the window was open. The bathroom was a good size with the shower over a tub. I loved the original wooden floorboards that listed a little to one side. Very much in keeping with the age of the house. There is an honesty bar on the ground floor with virtually any drink that you could want plus ice maker and lemons. The room also has an espresso maker and kettle for tea. The breakfast room is nicely decorated with well spaced tables. A substantial packed meal was left out for me because I was leaving before breakfast hours and was much appreciated during my strenuous walk along the Camino de Santiago. The proprietors speak good English and are very helpful. The wifi wasn’t really good in my room but I expect there are parts of the house where it works just fine. The quality of the Casona de Amandi was a welcome surprise and it is highly recommended.…
You feel as though you are a guest in someones gorgeous house rather than in a hotel. Our bedroom and bathroom were huge and very comfortable. There are lots of places to sit inside and outside the house and it is very peaceful. There is an honesty bar for drinks and breakfast was lovely. There isn't a restaurant but there is a very good one just a few minutes walk away. The parking is very secure.
The 19th Century building, set in beautiful gardens, has been elegantly transformed into a stylishly dignified rustic retreat. The bedrooms are comfortably spacious, the graceful guest lounge offers a relaxed environment, as does the upstairs gallery overlooking the lawns. Service is welcoming, responsive, yet unobtrusive. The “honour bar” is a nice touch. Food is deliciously fresh, tasty, and attractively presented.
I spent 5 days over Asturias and this place is awesome cause it is really calm and you are in real contact with the nature. The rooms are more than ok and the breakfast is well prepared by the owners of the house. It is a familiar atmosphere.
This was our last stop on a motorcycle tour to Portugal and on our way back to Santander. The hotel is charming and only a mile or so from the motorway and near the town of Villaviciosa. The rooms are beautifully decorated with solid wood floors and all with en-suite. The gardens are immaculate. There is a restaurant nearby but you'll need to take your Spanish dictionary with you. The hotel also has an honesty bar with every conceivable drink plus pork scratchings! The hotels car park is secure and behind a licked, electric gate.
One of the most charming spots we have ever been in, with a beautiful big garden and a wonderful interior, very private and with some very big and spectacular rooms. The breakfast is fantastic, with fresh “tomate rallado”, good bread, fresh orange juice and very delicious (and daily changing) smoothies and if you want you can order dinner which is very individual and as delicious as the breakfast. The owners and the stuff are extremely friendly and warm persons so we enjoyed a lot our stay and surely will come back another year.
