I was really excited when I was able to upgrade to an executive suite using my rewards at this hotel. Boy was it a disappointment. Checked in to the room. Found half the lamps didn’t work and there was a smell in the room. Found trash in one of the dresser drawers. Inspected the area around the coffee maker and smelled old pizza. Opened one of the drawers and found a half eaten pizza in the drawer. Went down to the front desk and was moved to another executive suite. Inspected that room and found it wasn’t clean either. There were sticky drink rings all over the tables and none of the countertops had been cleaned. I was traveling for work and most of the hotels in downtown Atlanta were booked so checking out wasn’t feasible and at this point I didn’t want to be moved again so I went to the front desk and asked for sanitizing wipes. I spent over an hour using Lysol wipes cleaning my upgraded suite. No one called th check to see if the second room is satisfactory after sending a guest to a room with another guests half eaten food in it. Now the Ritz is supposed to be known for their luxury beds but I could not figure out why I could not get comfortable. So I inspected the mattress. The mattress was a Stearns and Foster at one point but it was over 7 years old and stained. It did have a featherbed cover. In that the featherbed was ancient and spilling loose feathers all over the mattress. The “Frette” sheets were what you’d get at a hospital ER. Ancient, stained and ripped on the corners. I had considered purchasing bedding through the Ritz online boutique but I won’t be making that purchase after this. On top of that the elevators shake the whole building. I was down the hall and every time the elevator moved it shook the walls and caused an incessant squeaking noise all night. Between the squeaky elevator and the lumpy ancient bed good luck getting restful sleep. The large bathroom looks impressive with a large tub. But carefully time when you decide to use it because it’s not likely you’ll get any hot water. The last day as I was packing to leave I noticed a foul odor of sewage or standing water coming from somewhere. There is a fridge in the room. But it’s a minibar. They’ll charge you $25 to emptying if you want to use the fridge. Or they’ll charge a $3 restocking fee if you remove or use any of the items. And speaking of the fridge. The one in my room hasn’t been defrosted in ages and was leaking water all over everything. Getting into the place is a hassle. The valet stand is always full and there’s no easy place to park your car to self load your luggage and check in. As I was struggling to move my luggage to the check in counter no one held the door for me. No bellman at a “5 star” hotel. Yes the lobby looks nice. There is artwork and chandeliers everywhere and it’s a “Luxury” brand. And it’s not the *worst* place I’ve stayed. But I’ve had cleaner, and quieter rooms at a budget brand hotel. At the end of the day you can’t sleep in the lobby. Basically staying at this luxury branded hotel is about like buying a knock off Gucci bag. It has a luxury label. You might not notice it’s a rip off at first. But if you open it up you’ll notice it smells funny. And before a “manager” from the hotel finds this review and gives the usual speech about “Dear Valued Guest. We’re sorry about your experience. This is not up to our standards, etc etc…” (we all know the same speech) . Let me just say these are in fact YOUR standards. They are not luxury 5 star hotel standards. They are not Marriott standards or even the most basic of hotel standards. But they are your standards The negative reviews on Marriotts website about the cleanliness of this place go back years. I got 2 executive suites that retail for $1000 per night and both rooms were filthy. And nothing was done about it. And given that the reviews about cleanliness issues go back years it’s likely it won’t change. I’m just lucky that this upgrade was a platinum level suite night award and I didn’t pay the full $1000-$1200 per night price.

Extremely expensive as in 400-500 a night out of season. Rooms are quiet and comfortable in the middle of atlanta. One room I was given had a massive wet patch on the carpet - 6 feet wide and growing. They moved me in 30 minutes with no compensation for inconvenience. The next time I stayed my room had no hot water. Other people were complaining at the front desk. No compensation for all taking cold showers. Motel 6 treatment. Restaurant had good if overpriced food but service was very slow. As in 20 minutes to get a bowl of cereal. Personnel all very friendly but clearly not up to ritz standards.

Stayed in Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta for three nights as part of a work trip. Nicely located in down town Atlanta. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. I did not make use of breakfast at the hotel, there are plenty of places to get breakfast close to the hotel.

Upon entering our first room, the air conditioner rattled like it had aluminum foil in it. The front desk gave us a different room, not apologetically. Our second room had two beds. My friend got into hers. When I got into mine I noticed hair in several areas on my bed. Looked like this was the catch-all unused bed from a previous stay. It was disgusting. My sleep for three days was not comfortable...what else is dirty in this room? The snack tray was not filled and I had to make sure i was not charged for the food. The nicest staff were the housekeepers I passed in the halls, kudos to them. Will never stay at this hotel again and might never stay at a Marriott again. Marriott should change this place to a regular brand hotel; excellence is not here.

The hotel was nice. Employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Can’t say anything bad about them.It was 2 blocks from the event we were going to. But I would never go back unless it was summer. There were two different places you could enter building. So 2 doors opening with cold air coming in always. The open area in lobby stayed freezing. We went to a table in bar area and it was so cold we had to wear our coats the whole time we were there. My hands were freezing I did not have gloves. We sat there had some drinks. Everyone was saying how cold it was. Next day same thing, so we waited for upstair bar to open. Went there it was chilly sitting at bar the door was open so the cold air was coming in from lobby downstairs. But warmer than downstairs.A man sitting beside us at bar upstairs moved to another area of bar he didn’t have coat on.He said he was cold, as he left bar he said ,come on warm this place up it’s the Ritz after all for gosh sakes. Was the heat off, the halls & elevator was chilly,? But warmer than the whole downstairs.I expect better than this from the Ritz.

Dear twyllaw2023, thank you for your recent visit and for sharing your feedback with us; our team of ladies and gentlemen joins me in apologizing for not providing you with the level of comfort you come to expect, as the cold spell we experienced, reaching low temperatures of 16F, clearly challenged our ability to maintain the proper temperatures in some of our public areas - while we made efforts to reduce the draft while maximizing our heating system, the efforts were inadequate. We value your patronage and your comments allow us to focus on and find improved solutions in the future; we are delighted to hear that the service provided by our team of professionals lived up to our reputation and I will be certain to share your kind comments throughout our hotel. This Ritz-Carlton location upholds the high Ritz-Carlton standard of hospitality, service and cleanliness. The beds had so many layers of silky sheets, mattresses/featherbeds, comforters, and different types of pillows, it was the best sleep I have gotten in a hotel for a long time. Great downtown location, walkable to Olympic Park, Coca-Cola, State Farm Arena, etc. Would stay here again.

From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable, offering personalized service that made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued as a guest. Also, the club lounge was exceptional. It offered an exclusive and relaxing space with various food and beverage options throughout the day, and the staff in the lounge were attentive, ensuring a pleasant and luxurious experience. However, my room did not meet my expectations, especially considering the hotel's reputation. The view from my room was quite disappointing. Moreover, the restroom in my room fell short of the expected luxury standard. The overall design and quality of materials used did not align with the luxury experience promised by the hotel. This was a significant drawback, as the bathroom is an essential component of the overall comfort and luxury of a hotel stay.

I’ve actually never stayed at this hotel but I had to ship my dad a FedEx package as he was staying here for a few nights on business. I knew the package arrived and didn’t give it another thought. George ended up calling me within maybe 1-2 hours of the package arriving. George was honestly the nicest person I think I’ve ever spoken with on the phone. He couldn’t make out who the package was for and wanted to make sure it was given to the right guest. I just felt compelled to compliment George for brightening my day with his friendly and polite demeanor. I’m not sure what department he works in, but he’s a star.

I have stayed at this location four times and each time I hoped for better service. You stay at Ritz for a great experience, trust me - you will not get it here. I am a Marriott Titanium member and gave this location an opportunity to “make it right” and the response I received from Hope - Manager on Duty was. “your profile is showing a basic level Bonvoy membership”. Even though I have stayed over 80 nights this year at Marriott, I didn’t know having beyond a “basic” membership was a prerequisite for decent service from the hotel staff. Needless to say, I canceled all future reservations I had here. If you are loyal to Marriott and staying in Atlanta, go stay at The Glenn or JW. This location had Very POOR service. I expected better.
