A wonderful base to work from. Warm reenergising showers to return to in comfortable rooms. Room 6 particularly beautiful. Breakfast was lovely within a limited range - the yogurt being tasty with fresh fruit. Only 6 rooms in total. The hotel restaurant is well regarded but pricey for a limited budget. Staff couldn't be nicer and were most helpful in... More

Excellent food and friendly service. A varied menu and extra choice provided on a specials board. We enjoyed our meal here so much that we went again two days later! The pate starter was stunning, steak perfectly cooked and really tasty and desserts were delicious.

Large clean room very well appointed. Comfortable bed and large bathroom. Our room had a great view and was very quiet. Owners and staff were great, especially the charming young girl on reception. Only stayed one night but would definately return there again if in the area. Advise you eat at the Al Lago restaurant too, great food well cooked.

Good food and service overlooking the reservoir at Zahara. A favourite eating place whenever we are in this glorious part of Spain. Very close to Ronda and well worth a drive from the Costa to sample the views and the food.

What a serendipitous find. We were aiming for grazelema to do some walking in the national park before heading to Jerez and Cadiz, but everywhere was full. Small hotel, lovely rooms and fantastic kitchen run by Stefan and his team. Highlights - gazpacho, peppers stuffed with bacalao, lechona, .... Sad to be leaving this haven

Rooms differ so ask for the new superior ones. Ours was fine but not a patch on the new ones. When I booked they were being built! All have the fantastic view of the lake. They are simply furnished but very clean. There is a little terrace area which is lovely. The cleaner was so helpful when I needed duvets... More

From the moment of booking the entire experience was first class. Mona ( part owner and front of house manager ) could not be more helpful. We were here for one night in June. The staff were very kind and nice. Room was nice and clean. Only minus thing was that the room was hot later in the evening and we had some difficulties to sleep. Their air condition didn't work so good. We also ate all our meals in there and can recommend. All were... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A small family run hotel with spectacular views of Zahara´s lake. We have a well known restaurant open for lunch and dinner, serving local produce (some from our farm). The cuisine is rustic with innovative touches featuring local specialities such as wild boar, pork cheeks, paellas and in summer a wide array of fish. We also have vegetarian and vegan options, daily specials, home made desserts and an extensive wine cellar featuring many local bodegas. In addition Al lago has as a bar serving drinks, tapas and baked goods all day long. Breakfast is a buffet of fresh fruit salads, cereals, yoghurts, fresh juice, cold cuts and patés, boiled eggs, Andalucian tomato puree, breads and hot beverages. All our spacious, thoughtfully decorated en-suite double bedrooms have their own balcony with wrought iron doors, large beds, flat-screen satellite TV, built in wardrobes and rain showers. There is wifi in public areas and guests can use the hotel computer if need be. Al Lago has free on road parking and access is by recently asphalted road. We are surrounded by fabulous walking country with the Garganta Verde and many other hikes on our doorstep. Located on the edge of a typical white village/pueblo blanco into which you can wander and enjoy local bars and shops. A paradise for walkers, birders, cyclists, foodies, botanists, painters and horse riding enthusiasts. The architectural wonder of Ronda is half an hour away and other lovely white villages close by. Roman ruins, oilve oil mills and wine bodegas can be visited in the area also. For swimming the playita (spring fed mini lake) and local pool are open from mid June until Mid September. ... more   less
