When I checked in (late night, very tired, no reservation) the owner asked what kind of juice I liked. In the morning that and other juices, plus bananas, granola bars... anything you wanted to eat there or take with you. Leisurely check out. Lots of suggestions for things to see in the area. Basic room, reasonably priced. They give the impression that they want you to be delighted with your stay. Because of my treatment, I was.

I stayed here two nights to resupply my kid who is hiking the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The owner (Jim) is super professional, nice, friendly and helpful/knowledgable. The hotel was clean, everything was working great, convenient location and I very much appreciated the muffins and coffee in the morning. Recommend.

My daughter and I stayed here in July 2019 for a resupply stop while hiking the John Muir Trail. I mailed my food resupply in advance, and Jim picked us up at the trailhead on the agreed-upon date - and also took us back to the trailhead the next morning. The room was clean and comfortable. The A/C unit worked great. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast of fresh-brewed coffee and coffee cake was adequate. Jim also keeps "hiker boxes" out, which consists of food donated by other hikers that can be taken for free. This was a good deal: resupply storage + room for 2 + laundry + pickup/dropoff at the trailhead totaled $150. Jim is a friendly guy. We enjoyed our stay and would do it again!

We picked this site because we were coming in from a visit to Death Valley and we wanted to see the Owens Valley following the diversion of water. Worth the visit. There are dinning facilities in the town. Breakfast was basic.

My wife & I with a friend spent 3 days to visit the Sierra's and Mule Days. Thoroughly enjoyed Jim at the Independence Inn and appreciated his pointing us in interesting directions with informative idea's on where and what to see. The Inn is comfortable and had all our essential needs; nothing "high-roll" but VERY clean. Our next plans to stay in the Lone Pine/Bishop area include staying at the Independence Inn. Highly recommended from seasoned travelers.
