I’ve been back from this hotel over a week and only just getting round to reviewing it and I feel compelled to reassure any travellers to this hotel that the previous reviews are a load of nonsense. I stayed here for a week with a friend. I’m fortunate to have been to some wonderful hotels in many countries prior to coming here and yes you’re not in Mexico in 5 star luxury but my goodness folks what do you expect for the money you paid? We managed the booking system for meals without issue, managing to get into all the specialty restaurants. The Chinese being my favourite, the Salina my friends. We ate a few meals in local restaurants just to break it up too. The air conditioning may appear not great but I dare you to leave it on overnight and not need a blanket! The clothes rail? Yes it’s a clothes rail, it’s fit for purpose and more drawers than you would usually have in a hotel room. Mini fridge a free to use safe in another ample cupboard. Next water, there is a water machine in reception to fill your own bottles and glasses of chilled water with ice at every bar. If that isn’t satisfactory for the discerning traveller…… shop? The entertainment team are superb unlike some hotels where they’re in your face they’re around but not hassling you to join in with things. I managed to read 3 books whilst tapping my foot to the music playing in the background. I guess if you want silence there’s the rooftop pool which is just the place for you. The main restaurant, it was at times lacking atmosphere and you are queuing at busy times but I can without exception say that every single thing I ate was hot and very tasty. We’re holidaying in trying times and I for one am grateful that I managed to get away and have a fabulous relaxing week. Please please do not let some of the reviews make you anxious about your upcoming holiday. I would say that 95% of the guests we chatted to had very few complaints.

On looking for a hotel I looked on tripadvisor as I usually do and this hotel was highly rated. After 5 cancelled holidays we booked this hotel after our holiday in Turkey was changed. On arrival at 2ish we were told the room was not ready till 3pm so was told to get lunch. We went into the buffet and was very underwhelmed by the selection on offer. My husband choose some meat which was stone cold. I had salad which was just slopped on the plate. You have to pick what you want and they serve but they do not give you chance to look at what is on offer. At 3ish we were given our room on the 8th floor. We were shocked to go in and find the air conditioning was not hardly on and it was like an oven in the room as the temperature was in the 30s outside. No wardrobe in the room and just a hanging rail which was partly hanging off the wall. We thought it was strange that there was a fan in the room but this was used consistently with the air con to get the room cool enough to sleep in. There was just 2 small bottles of water available in the room. The food was consistently cold or rubbish and we spent nearly every night eating out. The pool on the ground floor was fine till 10 am and then the animation team woke up. They did a silly dance and then the music carried on playing all the while. It was at a level you could not read and was more appropriate to a disco. I had had enough after a few days and asked politely for Maheer (one of the animation team) to lower it slightly. He totally ignored me as was rude and the went off to chat to someone else. My husband asked him again and he said he would not talk to him and went and got his manager. He said that the young people around the pool wanted it at this level and as we explained we did not mind some music but it did not have to be so loud. The music went down but every day we had the same battle until my husband recorded the level on his phone and sent it to the manager of the hotel who agreed the level was far too high. This hotel said it was abiding to COVID rules but several things did not comply with this. The toilet in the hotel lobby was definitely not complying with COVID rules. When you went to wash your hands the water just trickled out and it was impossible to wash hands properly. I did report this on several occasions but nothing was done. The pool was dirty and a black line was round the edge and the bottom of the pool. One day there was scum on the water which was very off putting. It was so shallow and the deeper pool was constantly being used by either the water polo teams staying there or very loud Maltese guest who could use the pool for a day. The so called speciality restaurants were not good. Queuing for every part of the meal. The adult pool was slightly better but not much shade. The pool steps were dangerous and in fact I really hurt my hip and knee slipping on the steps which you had to step down considerably to get in and the rubber was missing so I slipped and hurt myself. Please if you want to stay in Malta Please Please do not use this hotel. It was not cheap and we had to spend extra money eating out every night to get a hot good meal. I liked the bar on the top floor but consistently when you went to sit down the cushions were wet from people using them during the day. I liked Malta but this experience put me off ever going again. The location was good but that is all I can say. Most of the staff were rude except the charming trainee receptionist who checked us in. Jet 2 rep was never seen and only appeared when we were leaving.

From the moment you arrive you realise that this is not a 4 star hotel - no assistance with luggage offered and reception staff were unfriendly and completely uninterested in you as a paying guest The rooms were of a reasonable size however there is no wardrobe to hang items with only a metal bar over draws situated beneath which is not ideal Restaurants and food There are 4 ‘restaurants’ one which you have breakfast in is more of a canteen ! The selection is ok with freshly cooked hot dishes however if you ask for poached eggs be prepared to be told you wait Three themed restaurants one you can only use once, and book as soon as you arrive - Chinese was ok Indian not great and the canteen selection was repeated daily with only one or two changes and the portion size are huge. Juices are watered down and the orange juice is ‘brown’ ! I appreciate that we are living in strange times but if you provide poor rude service don’t expect your customers to return

Expected much more from this hotel but admittedly the reviews are very mixed. Room ok just, rather basic with a view over roof tops rather than sea view. The hotel is very crowded with more guests than facilities available- expect to queue for absolutely everything. The main dining room is dark and very cramped and all in doors. The food having queued for agaves is uninspiring and repetitive. The 3 speciality restaurants are difficult to get in to and Saline is the only one that is not a buffet. The cafe Maroc is ok but apart from coffee everything is extra in an all inclusive? The pool areas we nose to tail, very cramped and the pools too small to swim in. Not great at all would not recommend or go back.

My wife and I have just returned from a week here on our first visit to Malta, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was spotless as was all the hotel, the staff were amazing and the food perfect, special mention to the Salia restaurant, an amazing meal. I hate being critical on minor issues but feel it creates a balanced view, so, 1 . the A/C in rooms only moves the air around, it doesn't really cool it. 2. Also is there any need for the pool staff to slam open and shut the sunbeds morning and evening, it's about the first hotel we have stayed in where they start "clearing the decks" at 5pm, just when u r snoozing. 3 understand plastic recycling but one water bottle for the week being refilled, no thank u Covid tests arranged no problem in hotel, also manager quickly sorted out weekend trippers smoking outside our room, ignorant or what. Great hotel though, would recommend
