We were really impressed with our 5-night stay here. The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff so friendly and professional, the breakfast fantastic and the location could not really be better (a few minutes walk from the town and with a stunning sea view). We moved on to a more expensive hotel that wasn't a patch on this one....

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is perfectly situated in the main square of the town with fine views out to sea. We were in room 124 which is at the sea end with great views over the sea. Our room was clean and roomy with plenty of space for clothes and cases, the bathroom was very good...

My wife and self - now both retired but active , spent 2 weeks in this really lovely hotel during weeks 2 & 3 in September. From the moment we arrived we felt well at ease & this feeling was sustained throughout our stay. Although it is classed as 3* , do not be dissuaded by this, as i suspect...

This modern hotel is located just above the beach and within a few minutes' walk of the castle and harbour, where the majority of the restaurants and bars are to be found. Bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious with large fully-fitted en-suite and plenty of clothes storage. Staff are multi-lingual and very friendly. There was an extensive range of foods...

Stayed here for 5 nights after 6 nights at Baglio Di Scopello. Bit busier here than in Scopello which we also liked. Good choice of restaurants,; good location for both port and centro storico. Room good; managed free parking outside but can imagine not always possible. Breakfast good too, good coffee. Staff all friendly especially our second floor cleaner. So...

We came here for our honeymoon, the staff welcomed us with a bottle of Champaign to celebrate which we were very grateful for. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and modern. The hotel is in a prime location, we stayed during a religious festival and it was noisy until 1am most nights, the lady at reception...

After having stayed during a work trip at Al Madarig during early Spring, I was happy to return with my wife for three days of a break in this attractive seaside town. The zygotes is clean, well-run, and well located. There is easy free parking outside (as long as it is not late evening) and great views from the rooms....

Excellent position to enjoy Castellammare marina overlooking the Golfo. Typical restaurants and shops at walking distance. Staff very helpful and friendly, rooms clean and nicely furnished. Ideal to visit surroundings or to spend some time to the beach!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Al Madarig (the Steps) bears the ancient Arabic name of Castellammare del Golfo (Sicily) and stands proud on a wide piazza which faces the sea, where the harbour was built by the local people from Segesta more than 2000 years ago. Strolling along the hotel street, a very narrow and panoramic walk, you will reach the Norman Arabic castle, and from there, stepping down a stone stairway, you can admire the quaint little harbour. The hotel boasts 38 rooms, bar, lounge room, restaurant, banquet room, free internet point and two conference rooms. The warm colours and welcoming intimate atmosphere of all the environments makes it an ideal place to spend a pleasant stay. ... more   less
