We stayed with Al Fresco in a caravan. Reception staff speak English, reps Kat and Anna were great, Kat gave us great advice about where to visit and best way of doing things. Site is small, clean and today, pool was very nice with plenty of sunbeds and a small slide. Pool lifeguard a bit aggressive with the rules! On site market is handy, pricey as often the case. Restaurant is decent, friendly, with decent mix of dishes and reasonably priced. Booking advisable in high season as there is very little else around the campsite so demand to eat there is high. Our caravan was fairly tired but everything worked. Biggest issue was ant infestation which made keeping fresh food out of the fridge impossible and even had them in the bed! That wasn’t nice though rep Kat helped as much as she could - not a lot you can do. Local beach is tiny so very busy but it’s very nice and there are loads of other beaches a few miles drive away so wasn’t an issue. We had real trouble eating out at lunch - places close 2-6 for siesta but also don’t serve wide menus at lunch time. Isola Sant’ Antioco was rustic and therefore not many shops, restaurants or public facilities anywhere but Sant’ Antioco town. So plan ahead and get your shopping in when you can! It’s a beautiful island. Definitely recommend a visit, just bring bug spray and don’t expect crazy nightlife. …
We stayed here with/via Alfresco Holidays and Kat & Hannah the Alfresco reps were wonderful. They were welcoming, friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable about the site and area in general. A pleasure to have met them. Our accommodation was showing one or two signs of age, however, everything worked and was comfortable. Nothing caused an issue and we were pleased with it all. The site is small, clean and quiet/peaceful, particularly overnight with direct access to the cove and sea. We didn't have any real contact with site staff, but on arrival the reception staff were friendly. However, our only real gripe would be with the restaurant/bar staff. We received a warm welcome on entering the bar, taking beers on to the terrace over looking the pool and cove - great. When the kitchen opened we decided to stay and have dinner as tables were being laid on the terrace around us. Although everyone knew we were there - in fact the only customers/people there, we were ignored - this by the same staff who were in the bar. Cutting a long story short dinner became a painful experience from getting a menu to eventually getting the bill. The food was good and were it not for the staff we would have eaten there every night of our stay as the menu offered lots of options. The final straw was a service charge - we were annoyed - this is the reason no one provides an acceptable level of service - they would not have got a tip otherwise. (Kat & Hannah if you read this, not having any lipstick the toothpaste did help)…
The ladies who greeted two tired campers were very kind and really went the extra mile to find us a solution as the campsite was unexpectly full! This is a very well run campsite - clean, organised, disciplined and quiet at night. Recycling is very efficient and clear (an important factor for me) with bins for all the usual materials plus waste oil and compost. There’s even a small compost bin by the washing up sinks. Hot water in the showers whenever I needed it. The bathroom cleaning lady went about her tough job with very good humour and the toilet blocks were clean. The pitches are roomy (we were camping - the excessively massive camper vans may not agree but that’s another story) and surrounded by trees and hedges. The pool and surrounding area are spotless (I noticed a robotic pool cleaner running at night). Caps are required and sold on site. We didn’t eat often in the restaurant but the pizzas were of superb quality and huge. Staff fairly efficient and always very polite and charming. That must be tough at the end of a long season. The beach is small but it was nice to have immediately on site. There’s a simple shower but it’s only a stone’s throw from the toilet block anyway. I would say that this is my only niggle, and it’s not the campsite’s responsibility, but ours. There were lots of small pieces of plastic on the beach and in the water. A storm had delivered it into the bay. Personally, if it were my campsite, I’d charge an extra € a day and have someone down there every day collecting and removing the plastic. It’s a world problem but that’s what I’d do. That’s the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars actually. However, as someone wryly commented to me at the time, ‘they drive €80,000 vans and moan about €22 a night”. Indeed. Finally, a special mention for Clara who was utterly charming and extremely helpful. What an asset that young lady is. Superb English (I’m ashamed to say, I have no Italian) and just a delightful person to deal with. This was an entirely positive experience - we stayed much longer than originally planned. We will return, but not in July/August (but I’d say that about all of Italy).…
Having stayed last year with canvas holidays. Had fantastic time and caravan was faultless. But. This year totally different. Welcome reception hostile. Abrupt. Rude. Caravan damaged. Co2/fire alarm had been removed. Items broken. Mosquito nets broken resulting in bites all night long. Binds broken. Fridge broken. Chair broken etc etc. Gave list to reception refused to contact canvas holidays. Coupled with this when we opened windows they hit static tents. They were that close. No view apart from bins and other caravans so cramped all you could hear was lots of noise as everyone was so crammed in. Restaurant took 1 1/2 hours for take away pizza we canceled order eventually and very very rude male staff with brightly coloured glasses told us to go away and find another pizzeria. So coupled with tonnara staff being horrible and canvas holidays caravan not fit for purpose. I will let other customers make up their own minds. …
Stunning campsite, very peaceful. However, extremely rude roan camping holidays rep. Very hostile, unfriendly atmosphere the whole holiday. Would not recommend roan camping holidays at this campsite, however Canvas holidays were amazing
