Totally empty place and the waiter wanted to stay us in the back patio. When asked to be seated on the front terrace in the sun he acted put out and proceeded to seat us on the terrace... In the shade. Asked for the Wi-Fi password and was told it wasn't working due to the wind, even though it showed up on my available networks. Ordered Diavola pizza but received plain salami. Waiter wasn't around to tell, not sure I would have wasted my time. We didn't see him the rest of the meal. Decent food outside of missed order (wife and son both had lasagna and loved it) but nit worth dealing with the colossal dusche that was our server.
We had a beautifully decorated, very comfortable bedroom on the second floor with a balcony. We were not bothered by noise from the street. There were beautiful flowers all around the place. There is a small roof terrace with seating higher up and a shady terrace on the other side of the second floor. A small sandy beach is only about 100 yards away, surrounded by colourful houses built to look like a village. The port is also nearby. The restaurant down stairs is very good, offering wonderful home made food. We ate dinner there both nights. Breakfast offered some choice including joice, fruit, ham, cheese and a variety of bread and pastries Very professional yet friendly staff. Only some ten miles from Olbia airport but we didn't hear any aeroplane noise. Would be a good choice for a longer stay.…
Located within 200m of a small harbour and long sandy beach, and yet within easy walking distance of the centre of Porto San Paulo, the Locanda Cala Junco is a superb base for exploring the nearby protected marine area adjoining the massively imposing Isola Tavarola a few miles offshore. The pristine rooms with adjoining bathroom are spotlessly maintained, with tiled floors, excellent air-conditioning, a TV, refrigerator and mosquito nets within the window reveal. Most importantly, the bedding is of high quality. We had a room on the second floor with a large covered terrace. Access is from an outside stairs and a small extra flight of stairs takes you to an open roof terrace at the with two sun loungers and tables with 360 degree views from the mountains to the sea, including the almost mystical presence of the massive 1500ft limestone island that is Isola Tavarola. We were not short of a parking space as they have an informal agreement with the Dive centre next door for guests to park free of charge. There is plenty of other parking space across the road but that is chargeable with machines placed by the municipality. Friendly and cheerful owners Antonio and his daughter Sabrina personally serve a varied and copious breakfast and are solicitous in ensuring that you want for nothing by the time you leave the table. The number of shops and eating places nearby (including the Locanda's own restaurant on the ground floor) is proportionate to the size of the settlement and there is no disturbance from noise or loud music. Self-hire inflatable boats with outboard motors are available at the small and quiet harbour. These can work out quite costly if a skipper is hired but there are in any case very reasonably-priced excursions from there out to Tavarola, leaving at 0930 and returning at staggered times during the day. We only stayed three days but the charm of the place begs for more time to be spent there - the beach is sheltered and gently shelving and the coast road gives easy access to other beaches, the magnificent viewpoint of Capo Cala Cavallo and the excellent dual carriageway which enables speedy access to the mountainous interior. It is also conveniently placed for Olbia airport - only fifteen minutes away by car. We'll definitely return.…
