Worst tenant because the hotel personnel were very gentle and probably suffer even more than travelers which is very sad but I honestly can't recommend this hotel to anyone. We purchased a package directly to the hotel website including the SPA (+ € 150 for 5 days) and made sure the SPA was open and without any restrictions, this was confirmed from them by email. At the time of checking in, the receptionist told us to book the SPA directly at the SPA reception; there, at our biggest surprise, we were told the SPA was restricted to 2 persons at a time, but the SPA was already fully booked for that day and next. I therefore asked the hotel reception to refund the SPA since the rules have changed as we cannot any longer benefit from it as expected but they refused it; I requested to give us me something in return, e.g. the parking fee and eventually drinks (along the half-board also pre-purchased); finally I got an email in return saying they would pay 2 bottles of wine but for the parking would let me know, pending to her manager decisions; I wasn't positive about the parking but asked again the next day, same response, the manager hasn't yet taken any decision. At the time of checking out, the only deducted one bottle of wine. There came the best part, the receptionist started to speak with a man standing close by us, obviously arguing about my queries. In short, they refused to gift me the parking but also said one of the bottle cannot be for free due to its price. The free bottle was around €18 while the second one was € 30 though the wine selection had many up to € 70 as well as one over € 300.... I claimed that the email was referring to two wine bottles for free, nothing else mentioned. The man was then asking to speak to the waiter, the situation became very embarrassing since the waiter had been doing a very good service during the 5 dinners. I was at the reception with 3 folks from the hotel, one that didn't say any word directly to me, never looked into my eyes. I asked the "stupid” question to the receptionist, who is this man ? she said this is my boss, the hotel tenant. The hotel tenant was shifting all faults to his personnel in front of us, never said good morning or nothing else you usually get, whether it is a 2 or 4 star (this one pretends to be !) hotel, simply unbelievable ! We feel very sorry for the personnel working under such bad management! I do hope my review won't be taken as general statement about Castelsardo location and local citizens. By the way, watch out, the same hotel tenant has also another hotel in the village called Janus Hotel, I would also not consider it knowing our poor experience !

I stayed at the Hotel Rivera for a weeks break in September. I’d not visited Sardinia before, but I chose Castelsardo as it looked very quiet and not as built up as some resorts. I absolutely loved it. Sardinia is a beautiful island, lots of mountains and beaches, it was also empty. Maybe because of Covid, but I was told the population is only 1.5 million compared to Sicily, which is a similar size and has 5 million inhabitants. Either way, it was very quiet and Castelsardo was a wonderful place to spend a week. I researched a lot before I decided on the Riveria hotel. Before I arrived I messaged the hotel with questions about Covid restrictions and transport etc...Piera was so helpful and arranged for a taxi from Olbia airport to Castelsardo for me. When I arrived I had a lovely spacious room overlooking the beach. The hotel staff were so helpful throughout my stay and were always smiling. The hotel has the main beach right outside, as well as a decent sized swimming pool that gets the sun all day. There are a few shops and the bank close by, to get into town is about 10 mins walk up the steep hill. I suppose that would be the only drawback if you weren’t keen on walking. For drivers, there are car parking spaces opposite, but I noticed they fill up quick and are on a meter part of the day. So for me overall the location is excellent. I thought the road outside was also pretty quiet considering it is the “main” costal road. With my outside doors closed I couldn’t hear anything. My room also had a decent air-con unit. As for local transport, the bus also stops right outside, which was handy when I fancied a change of scene and a trip to the next town, Lu Bagnu. Get the (local) white bus and it’s only 1 Euro - bargain! The breakfast at the hotel was good, bread, ham, cheese, eggs, fruit and pastries. The restaurant (Fofo) at the hotel was really high standard too. This is one of the few hotels I’ve stopped at where I didn’t really want to leave the place in the evenings as everything is such good standard. The food choice in-house was excellent, the restaurant was always busy and was high quality food. Another attraction for me was the spa facility which I felt was a massive plus when I was stuck for things to do on a rainy day. The spa treatments range from €30-60. I had a very relaxing back massage for €30. Overall I was really pleased I chosen to stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

This is a nice hotel directly in front of the beach. We had a very nice room on the third floor overlooking the sea and Castelsardo. Everyone was very helpful there and the hotel was very clean. Breakfast was ok. The usual you get in Italy. They have a restaurant there which we didn't try. Parking is impossible so we paid 10 euros the night for the hotels parking. They have a nice pool which wasn't ever full of people. The air conditioning worked very well.

We have enjoyed our 8 days at Hotel Riviera. The hotel is pleasant and the staff is very friendly. It is situated on the opposite side of the local beach, and there are several restaurants within a short walk. We recommend the hotel, thanks for a very nice holiday 😊

We stayed in this hotel for a week and was very satisfied with the room, the service, clean facilities and the location. Short way to the local beach and the bus stop. Nice bar and the breakfast was good even if the selection of «not sweet» choices could have been more. Did not use the pool but the area seemed quiet and nice. Excellent service in the reception. Top score due to this and good value.
