Hotel Gonone Beach Village is a beautifully designed complex with lots of greenery and a large pool. It is located near the beautiful and famous beaches of Sardinia. Breakfast is good, but we found the dinner buffet to be moderate and way too busy. You can easily rent a boat at the complex. You will then be picked up and taken to the port and also brought back at the end of the day. Italian animation and parking space are sufficient.
This is a very good place to stay in the lovely location of Cala Gonone. 5 minutes' walk from the beach. Room was smart and clean and any issues were dealt with by staff promptly and staff were all very friendly and welcoming. No complaints, I would highly recommend Club Esse.
This was the holiday that made me cry to go back home...and remember it forever! An outstanding location, delicious meals, animation 🔥🔥🔥 and incredible beaches around were the points that loaded us with lots of energy and emotions! I can’t say that ste staff were always helpful ( we couldn’t find the freezer to keep ice cubes for the medicine for our child)- this was like a helpless situation driving us mad) and the staff members at the reception were not polite at all... But Other things covered it all and made our holiday unforgettable! Thanx a lot!
When there on a busy day, park at the free parking at the top of the road and just walk down for 5 minutes. Plenty of sun beds available, free when we were there. Most people showed up in the afternoon, around 4 pm. So before that it was quiet. Sun sets behind the mountain so when watching the sea, the sun is behind you.
Before you go to Cala Gonone Beach Village, you must ask yourself a question: do I expect 4* service and hotel, as you might have gotten used to in Canary Islands or Spain? If your answer is 'YES", better not go there. If you do not mind 4* camping side with hamster sized rooms aka bungalows, plastic cups for breakfast soft drinks and vending coffee, then this place is for you. The good things about your stay will be though: small but clean bathroom in a bungalow, beautiful view in the area and a lot of exercise while climbing up, if your room is on the hill. We travel a lot with my husband and son to resort type hotels (mostly Spain's Islands), so my 6 year old is first to make a 'review' right after we arrive. As a kid, he just loved swimming pool, baby dance in the evening and ice-cream after lunch, but was complaining at small, hot and sweltering room. Air conditioning was smelling bad when operating,so we tried not to use it too much being afraid of mold inside which was a challenge with with 40 plus Celsius every single day. Beach and city centre is ca 15 minutes walk- again not a big deal with a normal temperatures but we were there during extremely hot weather conditions. There is a free train going to the beach everyday but operating during certain hours (break between 13 - 15), so you need to watch your time. Drinks are only included during meals, so being at the pool you may want to use the bar, but since its only a cash free bar, better have your pre-paid car full of Euro credit (charging at the reception), otherwise you end up just like my husband running down the hill to a reception and climbing back in a heat, everytime we were out of money and my son was screaming for water. You can pay with cash in the near-by small shop but they don't have water. Also do not expect too much of the service, the bar staff seemed to be more interested in taking your money rather than making you feel welcome (several complains when preparing a drink we had ordered) Also be prepared for monotonous breakfast, but this wasn't as much as a big deal for me, as Im OK for ham & cheese sandwich everyday - at least if was fresh. On the contrary, lunch/ dinner buffet is much much better, bigger variety and great tastes with my favorite delicious pasta which caused my weight gain :) Overall, our vacation experience regarding this property was average with highlights (nice pool, lunch/ dinner food) and lowlights (small rooms, air-con odor, complications with payments) but at least we do not have a feeling that we had overpaid so if you know this all and get prepared, you may have a good vacation experience.…
