Average hotel that has criminally slow/spotty wifi for any business or academic traveler. No Zoom calls or online lectures were possible to give because the wifi network is totally unreliable: not only weak, but subject to just shutting down for periods long enough to cut a connection. This is unacceptable in 2023, when the world has adapted to remote work, remote meetings, remote life. The hotel is also terribly understaffed, breakfast in the hotel was exceptionally slow because they had a grand total of one person handling all tables at the rush hour of 7:30-8am. Again... 2021-22 was when work shortages were a fashionable excuse. Furthermore the location isn't that great: 2/3s of Uber/Lyft drivers struggle to find the driveway leaving you to run after them when they stop in the wrong place. It's next to a dying mall that has nothing but awful mall food "and a Cheesecake Factory" as though that's of any value to people who want a quick, healthy option (or, you know, have taste in food). Booking this hotel was one of the biggest mistakes I've made. The office chair was uncomfortable for no apparent reason other than aesthetic choice. I simply do not recommend for business, academic work, or anything other than the undemanding guest. …
We arrived in Boston on a Sunday around 12:30pm after a 3 hour drive...My wife called the hotel and asked if we could get an early check-in...Woody told her yes, and upon arrival he couldn't have been any nicer...My wife asked if there was any way we could get a room with a view as it's been a while since we were able to escape from the kids for a few days and Woody put us on the top floor with a view of the canal !!! Since the nearest subway stop was approx 10 mins away we walked to and from Faneuil Hall / Boston Common each day (about 25 mins each way) along side the Charles River...Wonderfully scenic and peaceful walk. It was also nice having the Cambridgeside mall connected to the hotel. The self parking fee of $30 kinds of sucks, but when you go to a major city that's actually not too high compared to others, and since I'm not a fan of waiting / tipping for my vehicle every time I want to leave the hotel it was a great option to have...The parking was a bit confusing when we first arrived, but after the first day it was easy to figure out after familiarizing ourselves with the layout. My wife pointed out, and I have to agree, that this was the cleanest hotel room we could recall staying in. If we went back to the area we'd certainly stay here again.…
Yet an other fabulous stay at the Marlowe Kimpton in Cambridge. We had THE BEST view of the Charles River and Boston skyline.Super comfortable room, we slept so well. Tara and Sophie took such good care of us, as did the valet. Polaroid on loan was such a treat -- we took it around Cambridge and Boston, taking instants at all of our favorite spots. We look forward to returning to the Kimpton Marlowe soon!
I checked into the Kimpton Marlowe for a business trip. I am a regular visitor to Boston but first time staying here. Great visit and felt especially taken care of by the front desk manager Tara. Location is great. Staff very attentive. Definitely will come back.
Stayed here for 3 nights during the thanksgiving week and it was incredible. It was my first time at a fancy hotel and it was a stellar experience. The check-in/reception staff were some of the best. Mentioned I had an early flight and the amazing lady at the counter let me check in early. She clearly explained the benefits I get since I booked this through Amex and she even upgraded my room to a suite. My SO I was traveling with was extremely impressed. The room was spacious and had great views of the Charles river and Boston skyline. It was a corner room with floor to ceiling windows and it made our mornings beautiful with all the pleasant sunlight. We felt the bed could have been better and there were a few stains on the couch but it didn't bother us much. The room service folks are top notch and ensured they cleaned our room with perfection. The hotel staff are prompt and some of the nicest. Over the course of our stay, our toilet got clogged once but was fixed immediately. Got a microwave delivered within minutes so we could heat up some leftovers. We spent the hotel credit we got as part of the booking benefits on breakfast for two mornings at the restaurant. It was decent, well priced and the portion sizes were filling. If the hotel can gradually improve on the taste, it would be unbeatable on any standard. The extra touches with beverages in the lobby during the day, in room refrigerator and complimentary toiletries are nice. Overall, it was a great experience made possible by a truly amazing and attentive staff. …
5 star all the way. All staff friendly, helpful. Room was clean, comfortable, pleasant. I arrived early morning after red-eye. Room was available and they let me check in 10am. Greatly appreciated. Many comfortable places to sit and visit with friends. Location is convenient to river, shopping, science museum, universities, dining, etc.
My wife and I had a lot going on in our lives and in Boston as well. The Kempton Marlowe was the perfect container where we landed. The staff was 100% on, to a person, every single person. Ben, Khalid and Naquan were three of the entirely attentive staff there. Our room, the building and the site itself are beautiful. The entire property is maintained impeccably. We had a fabulous time there and our ‘Goings on’ faded and a peaceful refuge that recharged us for our next challenge was our experience there. We travel a lot and look forward to our next time in Boston.
I had an awesome experience. The person who checked me in was Naquan, he had a positive welcoming attitude. I was having a bad day before check in and he definitely put a smile on my face with his personality and jokes before getting me settled. The room was nice and clean, bed was super comfortable, view was phenomenal. Overall I really loved this stay and would highly recommend to any of my family and friends
Complete staff turnover in the last year. This used to be my favorite Kimpton in the Boston area. Things have changed so much. I am part of their loyalty program and hold top tier status. No recognition at check in and was even asked if I've stayed there before. I've lost count of how many times I've stayed here. I booked a weeklong stay. Grateful for the upgrade I had to ask for, but was given the lowest hotel floor (I’ve never stayed on this floor in eight years). I asked to move if rooms became available and was never contacted. Rooms on higher floors were available. No working internet for first two days. Made working from the hotel room or lobby impossible. Fire alarm sounding for over an hour first day (no warning). Just testing we were told. No water with inner circle welcome amenity (though this is supposed to be guaranteed). Amenity was also very generic with no preferences referenced, thrown together last minute, and very impersonal. Mentioned we were bringing our three cats in an e-mail weeks before coming. No attention was paid to that note (bowls, treats, toys). The little things that made Kimpton so special are gone from this property. Dog in room next door was unattended for their entire stay and barked. Front desk was notified and said it “was allowed”. Was not quiet for us nor our cats. New staff is not friendly nor did anyone reach out after check in via text or in person to see how things were going. No hellos or even looking up from the front desk when passing by daily. This used to be my favorite Kimpton because of the staff, but I felt like a number here—not a top tier loyal customer. Benit, Adam, and most of the Bambara staff were gracious and friendly. Elijah was responsive on email before the stay. Sadly, those were the only employees who embodied the Kimpton spirit.…
Loved everything about our stay here, except it wasn’t long enough! Starting at the door. Doorman Aklilu was always on the ready to open the door and have our car ready with a big smile. He was very welcoming, warm, and friendly. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was comfy as was the lobby where we played cards. A huge surprise was to find a mall, CambridgeSide, connected through a parking garage! This was our second stay at this hotel, as a few years ago we stayed the week before Christmas. It was much more crowded at that time, but just as wonderful. Will definitely stay here again in the future. Hope to see you again Aklilu!
