The Irving House location is wonderful! An easy walk to Harvard Yard and the Harvard MBTA station. The street is nice and quiet. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff at the desk. They were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating! You felt so...More

Clean place on a great location near harvard square.
Good complete breakfast, tea, coffee and cake during the whole day on a common kitchen with microwave, and self service laundry at a good price.
I spent the thanksgiving there and they offered a free delicious...More
Location, of course, is primary, and if you want to be steps from Harvard Yard you can't do better than the Irving House. And to make this bigger-than-usual B&B even more attractive, despite an obvious full house, it is also very welcoming, our room and bath...More

We hope to see you again some time, and maybe when breakfast is a bit less busy so you can enjoy our full array of our food at your leisure...
The house has a very cosy & warm atsophere. The rooms are intimate, clean and comfortable, with nice amenities, even though mine was small single. The Breakfast was buffet style, in a charming cafe on the lower level. They serve eggs, patries, fresh fruits, cereals,...More

If B&B style stays are your cup of tea, this is nearly as good as it gets. Rooms are charming )without being frouffy), clean, and conveniently arranged. There's no elevator, so you have to be ok with stairs. The high point is the 'breakfast room.'...More

We do not have suites, so, depending on your preferences, we could accommodate your party in 2 or 3 rooms. With your son being so tall, I would recommend three rooms each with queen bed and private bath. This is the type of room of which we have the most. A family room has a queen and two twin beds. The twin beds are 72" long, so not very comfortable for someone over 72" tall…..
Our sister property, Harding House, has mostly the same bed configuration, but also has adjoining rooms, so depending on the timing of your visit, you might be able to arrange adjoining rooms, one of which would have a queen bed, another having a double (full) bed. The double bed is also just 72" long, but your son could sleep on it diagonally and be quite comfortable.
I hope this is helpful!

Joanne, I believe I have answered this question in another response. Irving House does not have suites, so we would accommodate your party in two or three rooms. Your tall 16 year old would be more comfortable in a full (double) or queen bed, which would require a third room. I hope this is helpful information!

"Ask for a lower level room if you are not keen to climb stairs; there's no lift."
