Detailed Reviews
I stayed with my girlfriend on the campsite in Derrylahan in our campervan for two nights. We were supposed to only stay for one night but we had to stay for two when we realised how lucky we were. Sean and Andrea were incredibly helpful with anything that we needed (washing, drying, advice about the area etc). All the facilities were spotless the whole time we were there and anybody we spoke to loved the place. The scenery is beautiful, peaceful and we will absolutely be returning!

Spent 3 nights here in a campervan using electricity, kitchen shower facilities etc. Very relaxed atmosphere, owner is a gentleman and extremely helpful. It’s also a farm and if your lucky you could get a duck egg for breakfast. Would highly recommend. 😃

I should have been staying just one night! But after 20 minutes I changed my mind and I stayed there for 3!
Shaun is amazing, and he really takes care of his guests for everything, I felt home.
He explained to me how to reach secret spots, I had a very great time in here, and I've charged my batteries!
The hostel is perfectly organized and really clean! The location Is Just Amazing.
Thanks Shaun I'll be back soon
I was supposed to stay only one night, but in the end I stayed for 3 nights and 4 full days!
Shaun is not simply the hostel manager, but takes care of his guests 360°.
He showed me some breathtaking locations, but above all I was able to experience the pure and uncontaminated culture of the place. The perfect place to enrich yourself and recharge your batteries.
The hostel is practically a farm, but I was impressed by the organization and cleanliness! Super recommended, I will be back for a long weekend

Room Tip:Â I went there by bus, so you have to walk 30' to reach other places. So it's better having a car

Hiking the stunning Sli Cholmcille over 2 days, this was our first stop after a long 13hour 50km day of hiking from Ardara. Absolutely perfect spot to stop for the night. From the gorgeous view to Shaun's warm Donegal welcome and genuine interest in our hike this place is a must visit. We pitched our tent overlooking the beautiful Teelin Bay and went to sleep after the most stunning sunset that only a place as wonderful as Donegal could offer. The campsite/hostel has everything you could possibly need, hot showers,a stove and hanging space to dry clothes/boots,fully equipped kitchen, picnic benches overlooking the rabbits!and for €10each the comfiest and quietest tent pitch anyone could want! The owner Shaun has obviously been doing this a long time and from the moment I first emailed him to our arrival he was a pure gent,Irish hospitality of this high standard is a rare find.I cannot recommend this trail highly enough, the views are epic and in the 2 days completing the 75km trail we saw waterfalls, explored seacaves, hiked over boggy mountains and up scenic mountain passes. Steeped in history, the terrain and scenery is so varied and beautiful.... its a real hidden gem.

What a magical place! I stayed here for two nights in March and loved it. I arrived on a misty, coldish afternoon and was welcomed by a roaring fire and a fully-equipped kitchen. Shaun is a gem - there when you need him, lovely to talk to, made me feel totally at home. The room was warm and clean and more than big enough with a sink, toilet and shower. Truly excellent value and a superb base for the surrounding area which has so much to see. Totally recommend and hope to be back in the near future.

This is a spacious campsite with very friendly host and good facilities. Noise levels are low at night. This area is the jewel of Donegal, did a great cycle starting from here taking in Ardara, Glencombkille and then back to Derrylahan. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

I stayed twice at the Derrylahan hostel in the 1990's. and after reading all these reviews I am happy to hear that nothing has really changed since then. And Shaun the most enjoyable host is still at it. Love those cups of tea. Hospitality is number one!! I look forward to my return.

This campsite has one massive selling point : you'll travel a long, long way before you find another campsite with such a breath-taking view.
We usually get around in our campervan to visit places and do 'stuff', but I can just sit in this campsite and for hours watch life going on below in Teelin Bay.
Shaun is one of those genuine, down-to-earth characters ("Sure we don't take any heed of the weather forecast out here."), and runs his place in a very un-commercial way, and I mean that in a good way. You wanted unspoilt Ireland?
Lucky, the dog, is also quite a character. I've never had a dog guide me to the beach before!
Derrylahan includes a hostel, a good-sized field for camping, and a handful of touring pitches. Toilet and shower-room facilities are good and well maintained. There's a well-equipped, good-sized communal kitchen / wash-up room.
Anywhere else in the world this stunning scenery would be over-run, but we had it to ourselves. It was difficult to drag ourselves away. Brilliant battery-recharging, no-mobile-coverage, relaxation from the rat-race.
