Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Derrylahan and Sean tick a lot of Boxes! A very friendly, clean and well organised Hostel in every way. Great hospitality and Information available in an area of Splendid scenery with lots of things to do and see. I would highly recommend Derrylahan to one and all and I look forward to returning sooner than later.

Just back from fantastic 3 nights with Shaun at Derrylahan Hostel in our touring caravan. Shaun was the perfect host super friendly and helpful. Campsite has great camping kitchen with a cosy fire in the stove in the evenings. Bathroom and shower facilities kept very clean. Stunning views of Teelin Pier. Close proximity to local villages, perfect beaches and the incredible Slieve League Cliffs. Fish and Chips a must at the Seafood Shack in Killybegs. We will definitely be back x

Sean was super helpful & friendly. We stayed two nights camping, very happy not to pay for hot water as other campsites often charge for this! Such an incredible location, the beach only a ten minute walk away - beautiful bay with clear blush water. Great walks, coffee cart & The Rusty Mackerel nearby. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Hiking the stunning Sli Cholmcille over 2 days, this was our first stop after a long 13hour 50km day of hiking from Ardara. Absolutely perfect spot to stop for the night. From the gorgeous view to Shaun's warm Donegal welcome and genuine interest in our hike this place is a must visit. We pitched our tent overlooking the beautiful Teelin Bay and went to sleep after the most stunning sunset that only a place as wonderful as Donegal could offer. The campsite/hostel has everything you could possibly need, hot showers,a stove and hanging space to dry clothes/boots,fully equipped kitchen, picnic benches overlooking the rabbits!and for €10each the comfiest and quietest tent pitch anyone could want! The owner Shaun has obviously been doing this a long time and from the moment I first emailed him to our arrival he was a pure gent,Irish hospitality of this high standard is a rare find.I cannot recommend this trail highly enough, the views are epic and in the 2 days completing the 75km trail we saw waterfalls, explored seacaves, hiked over boggy mountains and up scenic mountain passes. Steeped in history, the terrain and scenery is so varied and beautiful.... its a real hidden gem.

we stayed here one night, in order to explore the Slieve League the next day. Simple but nice stay, with wooden stove to dry our wet clothes. self catering, so we could make our own meal. and good opportunity to meet other people that explore the region. Relatively cheap in comparison with Carrick alternatives

I stayed with my girlfriend on the campsite in Derrylahan in our campervan for two nights. We were supposed to only stay for one night but we had to stay for two when we realised how lucky we were. Sean and Andrea were incredibly helpful with anything that we needed (washing, drying, advice about the area etc). All the facilities were spotless the whole time we were there and anybody we spoke to loved the place. The scenery is beautiful, peaceful and we will absolutely be returning!

This is a spacious campsite with very friendly host and good facilities. Noise levels are low at night. This area is the jewel of Donegal, did a great cycle starting from here taking in Ardara, Glencombkille and then back to Derrylahan. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
