Ordered bacon and cabbage for bar food! Clearly all was microwaved(probably a minute too long too). Had to leave 99% of it behind! Even the veg and potato were not nice!place is outdated and not overly clean!i will not return again.
While staying in Mountshannon we went here for a drink. The girl serving was very pleasant & friendly. At first we were sitting beside a sliding door which everyone going out to the toilets left open & the draft was terrible. We discovered later the reason it was left open was because there was no handle on the other side. We then moved to a comfy couch & the girl brought over armchairs The bar had fairy lights strung around which gave it a nice atmosphere.
Grand little pub inside, reasonably priced beverages, kitchen still under refurbishment but very helpful barmaid for info around the area. The first premise from the harbour on the main street you'll pass and worth it.
My goodness, the outside of the building is a total transformation. The now exposed stonework is fantastic. Please don't plaster it again. Excited also about the new life and absolute potential. My goodness, does mountshannon need it. Bring it on lovely people's of the pipers. An already loyal customer of your inn down the road towards Killaloe
Got a room here for one of our party as our holiday home beds were so uncomfortable. Although the beds in the hotel were better, the room had a pronounced damp smell and so the person still had a bad nights sleep! Other rooms may be better - it may be that this twin room was relatively infrequently used and so not aired. But still, you'd think it would be ready for 'high season'. It did not meet the needs of the occupant!
have been in here quite a bit and I have to say the food has always been excellent. The staff are friendly and very welcoming and the hotel itself has a peaceful and quiet atmosphere. The menu caters for snacks, dinners and dessert. I can recommend the chocolate and orange cheesecake when its on the menu.
Lovely food , very quiet area , nothing for kids to do , anyone staying here needs to have a car as there is no regular bus root, we stayed in a nearby holiday home this was the only hotel there was only one other pub very quiet area
Great old building, on the main road, so was easy to find. Parking around the back, which was great. The room had old furniture, but it was fine, because it was in keeping with the rest of the building and ambiance. The bed was comfortable, and clean. We went into the bar, which got really busy as the night wore on, it gave it a nice atmosphere. The food is superb here, nice thick vegetable soup, followed by a huge steak, served very quickly, after we'd ordered it. There is another annexe, with another bar, and there was a guy playing the guitar and singing there. The day we left, it was raining, so we drove down to the harbour. This can easily be walked from the hotel though. Beautiful down there, and on a fine day, would be great to spend some time down there.
Stopped at this pub and restaurant for lunch during a tour of east clare. The pub and restaurant was spotlessly clean and we'll kept. The staff were very curtious and nice. The food was very nice also, reasonably enough priced as well.
Stopped in here and had dinner while watching the rugby world cup with the local patrons. It was really fun. It is a nice little pub that is exactly what you imagine when thinking local Irish pub. The meals were great. I had roast beef and it was one of the best meals I have had in Ireland. Hearty home cooked feel and done just right. My wife had a huge hamburger and was equally impressed. Did not stay at the hotel but recommend the pub.
