Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just returned from three days in this beautiful peaceful haven. From the start we felt at home thanks to the very warm welcome we received from Claire & Thomas. We rented a mobile home & even though the weather wasn't great we still had all the comforts of home. The campsite itself is just lovely & peaceful as it is situated on the banks of the lough & surrounded by woodland. We even saw a few red squirrel along the driveway up to campsite & in the trees overhead. We will defiantly return. This is the kind of place you would like to keep secret!

What a place,, This is camping in it's truest form, Stunning scenery, Great staff, Well run, This has been our first camping trip to this area, and it does not disappoint !! We stayed for four nights and it was fantastic, We stayed right on the edge of the lake which was truly amazing !! The weather was a bit rough but with the availability of fire pits and good timber logs we made it very cozy by sitting around the "campfire" in the evenings watching dusk set in.. It is truly amazing and unspoilt,,Staff Tom & Orla couldn't do enough to make sure you were well looked after,, Definetly going to be going back here again, and hoping to get another weekend before the end of the season

We camped here for 3 wonderful, if ever so slightly wet & windswept days. We were lucky to get a pitch right by the lakeside but there are so many delightful nooks & crannies scattered around this site that most folks staying would find a good spot. Facilities were basic-to-medium but were maintained very well & were kept clean even during the worst of the weather. Staff were also very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment is the lack of even a simple shop – I feel the owners could do very well if only they stocked basics such as milk, eggs, bread, etc - especially since there is only limited shopping available in nearby Mountshannon (2km walk away). Don’t let that stop you though – its well worth a visit.

This campsite has the potential to be amazing with more time and dedication spent on it. It needs a new play park, better signage as we were still finding places where we could of set up on our last day, perhaps more water activities as well. there is NO shop for essentials which surprised me as this could be a wee money maker for them. Wifi is in selected areas. Overall though this was a nice place and I found it peaceful, I probably would come here again if i was in this area.

Stayed for a weekend, Will stay for a week next time. Great spot for water sports and fishing. Lots of space and plenty of exploring for the kids in the forest. Very boggy so take time you find your pitch. No real playground, just a swing and some bars. Prices are fare and staff are friendly and can always be seen.

The location while beautiful would not be not enough to bring me back to this campsite. Set in the forest the site is dated with many static mobile homes that need modernisation. One toilet block was better than the other but they definitely need to pay more attention to the cleaning of them, they were full of dust and cobwebs. The campsite allows the burning of wood fires which, while nice, when there are too many of them lighting the smoke is a bit over-powering and certainly not healthy for anyone with respiratory problems. The weather was not great when we were there so perhaps this is why the fires were particularly smokey but I feel the pitches are too close together to allow these fires.

A great place to stay, we have being going there with 10 years and never had a bad experience. Best place ever to chill out and relax. Everyone is friendly and Thomas & Co are great hosts. If you feel like going out the local village is worth a visit.

We stayed for 2 nights at Lakeside holiday park, my husband and I were taking our caravan around Ireland so after a 4.5hr drive from Belfast we couldn't wait to get set up here. Staff really friendly and helpful, Showers are €1 for 8 minutes I believe, so don't get caught out. I used 2 tokens to be safe! Unsure if the site has wifi, I wasn't able to pick any up. Some parts of the site seemed very run down with abandoned caravans etc which was a shame. Also considering we booked the site in February we thought a lakeside view pitch could have been saved for us - but they were all taken. Its about a 20minute walk into the village, luckily it was nice weather and we enjoyed the local pubs for drinks and food. My husband says Mountshannon had the best Guinness he's tasted! Even
