I've tried more or less 10 different farm during my last trip in Iceland, but this one is probably my favorite one! Very close to the Eyjafjallajokull mountain, it is surrounded by the awesome icelandic panorama: hills, ice, mountains, water, horses and so on. The structure is very nice, as well as the rooms, clean and comfortable. The dinner and...

This review is for one of the five chalets at offer by Smáratún Guesthouse. Note that besides chalets, the establishment also offers a guesthose and cottages. I stayed there by myself in May 2014, but note that they room up to four people but the price is the same. The scenery of course is just fantastic. The chalets are located...

Just the drive from Hvollsvolur to here was pretty amazing. You get to see all these dormant and semi-active volcano's in the backgound for km's all around. The area is also littered with horse farms and little settlements with tiny chuches. I was looking forward to staying in the guesthouse which appeared very charming on various website photos. But we...

We stayed for three nights (family of 6) in two chalets in August 2012. The chalets - as described by others - sleep four and are compact but well thought out. Our kids are small and thought that they were great fun - having four full size people in each one would be tight. Everything works well - good shower,...

We rented a cottage with hottub here for two days. The cottage itself was ok although the shower flooded. From the cottage we had a great view of the Icelandic country side with mountains with glaciers in the background. The hottub was nice to. It's very convenient that you can cook your own meals here, because Iceland is an expensive...

Smaratun Guesthouse has been the absolute highlight of our trip to Iceland - it was the best accomodation we have spent night in during our stay and it was also the cheapest one. It could not get any better than this! We have stayed in a chalet, which is a small cottage containing a 4 person bedroom (one double bed...

We stayed one night in the Smaratun Guesthouse as part of a longer business trip to Iceland. This was by far the better of the two hotels we stayed in, with large clean rooms, great food and excellent facilities. Would return again, and would recommend to others

Stayed here to see the volcano while in eruption (it is very close). Rather plain but spacious rooms. Bedding a bit worn so the mattresses are rather soft and saggy. Headboard looked like something out of the '60s with buil-tin radio, etc. Since it is rural, very quiet other than for the country noises. Didn't dine in the hotel as...

It is an old farm reconverted to an hotel and Guesthouse. You can sleep in a hotel with big, conformatble and ensuite rooms, or in the Ghuesthouse medium rooms wiht shared baths and with a big kitchen to share. We stayed in that one and it was fantastic, clean and quiet. They included breakfast. You can also walk around with...
