We chose this place because it's a horse farm, but then we ended up riding at another farm down the road which online appeared to suit our preferences better. However, the cottage was a nice place to stay. Maybe a bit small for a family...More
Beautiful surroundings, very nice farm. Staff exceptionally polite, helpful. Very comfortable room, simple and clean and homey. Everything casual. Great place for kids to see horses, sheep, goats, piglets. Very nice breakfast buffet.
Totally enjoyed my stay here! We love the kitchen and amenities provided. Great location too! Good breakfast spread~ Will sure come back when i return to Iceland! Went on an hour Icelandic horse tour, friendly guide who brought around the river and Grand Canyon!

Dear Lynda, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, Hestheimar is located in ca 2 hour´s driving distance from Landmannalaugar, so you and your family could easily do some hiking there and return to Hestheimar in the afternoon or evening. However, you need to know that you can only go to Landmannalaugar from ca 20.6. each year and until Christmas time on a regular car, but if you are driving on a super jeep, then you can go all year round. Please do not hesitate to contact me again, if you would like to book accommodation in Hestheimar or if you need more information. For you and your family I would recommend to book 2 double rooms in the main building or the Guesthouse, but we also offer cottages.Best regards, Lea Helga Ólafsdóttir, owner of Hestheimar, Guesthouse and horse farm.
