I stayed there 1 night in August 2017 and everything was absolutely fabulous. Excellent cuisine, modern and also traditional, international as well as local cuisine, home made bread, friendly staff. There is also a large summer terrace. What I appreciated highly was the fact, that there are a big photos of the offer in the menu list, so you really know in advance, what you'll get. Very clean and cosy rooms with individual AC. Free bottle of water in room and complimentary apple was a nice "welcome package". Minibar in a room was also available. Easy parking 🅿 (free of charge) on a public road / parking. You can pay with a Credit card too.
Visited in January, just outstanding, the 2 floor rooms is like a cabin inside a building, it just fulfilled my expectations, the breakfast is amazing, loved every single detail, the service is outstanding, fully recommended.
The room are beautiful clean ***** And Charming The food is so well done with that Texas style and the European Czech cuisine is absolutely fabulous ***** I would say this is the best Restaurant in the region . I am Canadian very picky Congratulation to the staff and the owner I was very impressed and I travel around the world
High standards are set for this well maintained place with a rustic local feel. The trend is given by a high quality French cognacs exposed in the entrance followed by a rustic interior and beer garden with children's playground and grill in the backyard. Beside enjoying their good local food accompagnied by good beer or a decent wine, you can taste great homemade spreads, jams and marmalades that you can also busy and take away. French cognac or mamie's marmalade? Why to make a difference? The possible doubt and contrast is well assumed and luxury feels very natural here. The service was the best we had during our 2 weeks stay in the region. And this makes the difference. A pleasant surprise and a enjoyable experience. The choice of a music playing in the background was perfect. We will come back.…
Stayed in this hotel for 5 days on a work trip..... so here's my experience.......its a great reasonably price Hotel, and the restaurant food is lovely... The hotel is very well maintained and the rooms decorated nicely, with lots of Czech wooden furniture.....and the staff are amazing, even though they hardly speak English. What struck me is the will to go out of their way to help you. I had an very early train back to Prague on Saturday, and I asked if they can prepare a packed breakfast.....and they did, but the attention to detail was impressive.....I had stayed at another hotel (4 stars upwards) in Zlin some two months ago, and asked for the same thing, but the packed breakfast was quick, cheap and not well made. So when I got this breakfast from U Johanna, I was very happy to see that they care for their customer till the last minute. Keep it up U Johanna!!…
I've stayed here twice. The first time for one night, and just returned from a three night trip. The food in the restaurant is fantastic for lunch and or dinner. The selection is huge and the smells from the kitchen are quite alluring. The prices are extremely reasonable, even with drink and dessert. The breakfast is basic, but tasty. The rooms are cozy and fairly comfortable. During the last stay, they never replenished the soap nor did they give me a fresh towel. I would have liked both! The staff is friendly enough by Western European standards, and seem willing to help.
We ordered 'kolecka hnoje', literaly 'wheelborough of manure'. Service was good and attentive. The food was plentiful, good variety and tasty. It was little too much, so we asked for a 'doggy bag', and the uneaten leftovers were delivered packed to our table a few minutes later. Unfortunately, the place allows smoking in the restaurant, so the amount of smoke coming from the next table diners was barely tolerable, Good choice of beers, all good and very tasty. The restaurant is little out of way, on the outskirts of the town, but several trolleybus/bus lines stop nearby.
Whenever I am at "U Johana", I have the pork knuckle. The food is great, the service is quite fast and friendly. The only drawback is that the restaurant gets often rather crowded (but it also means the food is good). I would recommend this one to anyone coming to Zlín, a bit out of the center, but really worth it.
My husband and I enjoyed dinner at U Johana's the other night. My husband ordered a pork roll with pasta and I ordered a chicken dish with creme fraiche-filled prosciutto and gnocchi. The pork was good, but started to dry out toward the end of the meal. My chicken was excellent. We ate on the patio (very much recommended) and enjoyed the atmosphere. Slightly out of town, but about only about a five-minute drive from town centre. Very large menu - lots to choose from! Menus are available in English.
