We were so pleasantly surpised when we arrived here. The resort area is away from the busy, touristy Kailua Town. Not that Kailua Town is bad, just busy. Kinda like a mini Waikiki.
Checking in was painless. The staff are super nice and friendly. Our...More

hi we are Australian so also not used to driving on the "wrong"side. We rented a car from Alamo they have a shuttle service from the airport to their office 5 mins. The prices were reasonable and we stayed on the island for a week. We used the car to visit the volcano area where we stayed for a few days before staying in kona.
My husband got used to the driving quite quickly especially with me nagging from the passenger seat. The Big Island is fascinating and diverse so great to have a car. ( unless you just want to sit on the beach or by the pool and relax)
