The location is great, direct by the village. I think the hotel was in the past very popular. But now, it's outdated. They have a carpet on the outside staircase, old bed, no wifi in hotel (or you have to pay a lot!), small assortment on breakfast. The pool and the lagoon is small too. Kona unfortunately has no sandbeach....

Aloha TA family, glad these guests enjoyed our fantastic location, views and friendly staff. I've said in the past, we're not the newest kid on the block, nor sell ourselves as that. We do offer to travelers, the absolute best value for location, offering clean, well maintained rooms and grounds. Hope they enjoyed their time on the Big Island! mahalo!

As may be seen from reading other rewiews; this location has some strong pros, but prior understanding of the property is important. Loaction is very close to main tourist area, but if you select for a building a little further away you do not hear any tourist or luau sounds. They have a luau several times a week and you...

Aloha TA family, great to see these guests had a wonderful time, and found us to be unique! I'm glad they enjoyed their stay, from views, food and beverage and of course the location! They offer some great tips too. FYI, our luau, authentic food, music and dance operates M/T/W & F, from 5p-8p,.Expectations met, and vacation enjoyed, mission accomplished!...

We stayed at the Royal Kona Resort as part of a tour with Trafalgar in mid-March. We had a second floor room on a corner, overlooking the pool and the ocean. At first glance our room appeared to be adequate, but we soon discovered urine stains around the toilet, dirty bathtub, dark stains in the carpeting in the room itself,...

Aloha TA family, Its always concerning to read a review where a guest had such a bad experience. I've sent them a personal message to review which room they occupied, in an effort to rectify the issues they mentioned. FYI, we are a non smoking resort, with designated smoking areas, not everyone follows the rules, but we do our best...

We absolutely loved the resort. We had an ocean-view room above the pool. The room was large and comfortable. In has the hands down best oceanfront bar and restaurant with a gorgeous view of the sunset on the water (great food too). The location is very convenient with some good restaurants and shopping within walking distance. I was annoyed that...

Aloha TA family, what a nice review from another TA reviewer! Yes, parking is only $10 per day, but the good news is we don't have a mandatory resort fee on top of that like many hotels do, and our parking is some of the cheapest on the island. Glad they had a great stay overall, and loved the property....

If you want to be right in the heart of the main strip this is the place! Looking at the reviews I must say I was a bit worried. To give you a reference point on my hotel standards I usually stay at Marriotts and Sheratons. As for location you are a 2 minute walk to Alii Dr which is...

Aloha TA family, great to know these guests from Sunnyvale had a great time, all expectations met and exceeded. Pretty much nailed it on the review, great location, staff, rooms, views, ocean front pool, all for a great value. Yes, there are fancier places to stay, but you'll also pay much more too, so please, do your homework, make sure...

I'll start off by saying that my review of this hotel is somewhere between two and three stars, but closer to two. The only saving grace for this place was the location, which is right at the end of the main street in Kona where all of the shopping and restaurants are. Otherwise, it was terrible. I reserved the hotel...

Aloha TA family, sounds like we missed the mark here. I've send this guest a personal message to followup on her comments. Although we're not the newest kid on the block, we do strive to provide a clean and well maintained resort, for the best value for location in Kona. Some of the items mentioned are of real concern, and...

My husband and I were a little disappointed during our stay at the Royal Kona. We were not aware how outdated our rooms were going to be. After just staying at their sister resort in Lahaina (which was wonderful) we were expecting something similar with this resort. After check in, it appeared that the staff were not very friendly and...

Aloha TA family, sorry to know these guests were a bit disappointed in their stay, especially coming from our sister resort the Royal Lahaina in Maui. A bit concerned about the unfriendly comments from the staff, that's definitely not the norm, but I take all comments seriously and will look to improve where we fell short. Glad they liked the...

This hotel is great! It's close to all restaurants/bars, sights, and shops. It's clean, a little dated, but nothing serious. All staff are very helpful and welcoming. The luau is great. Don The Beachcomber's Tiki Grill was fabulous! Didn't have one bad meal/drink when we went. This is one of the cheaper hotels in the area, and it's worth every...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Royal Kona! We stayed in mid-April with great weather to enjoy the salt water lagoon on one side of the resort. The outdoor bar and restaurants were very nice too. The hotel is right on the lava rocks with the surf crashing all around. Never used the air-conditioning-just left the big sliding doors open all night.
