We depend upon Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed with the Kona Tiki which got great reviews. We LOVED our time here and will definitely stay here again!! Michelle and Gary were fabulous to help with activity plans and recommendations. The room was clean and comfortable. The best part was falling asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves....

We loved the Kona Tiki! It was our first trip to Hawaii and we got such a big kick out of things like the crashing waves, gigantic cruise ships, surfers, exotic songbirds, and even crabs and EELS, right outside our clean, comfortable room! The view from our Lanai was gorgeous! Our hosts, Gary and Michelle were really friendly and easy...

After staying 4 days in Hilo, we stayed 4 nights in the Kona Tiki Hotel. We only have good things to say about the place. In comparison to Hilo, Kona is quite touristic but the hotel is a little oasis of peace with good rooms, gorgeous views over the ocean, a nice little pool, good breakfast and the kindest staff....

This 10 room hotel is spotless, accommodating, and right on the water. I fell asleep to the sound of waves crashing right outside my patio. Rooms come with or without a kitchenette and a continental breakfast is included. Guests are mostly older, so it would not be a good place for a family with young children. Make your reservations will...

Old but Gold. This charming hotel is aged but it's in an incredible position. The rooms are comfortable, tidy and clean, all oceanfront. I stayed in a double and in a kitchenette. very relaxing atmosphere.there' s a pool. Breakfast is good. The staff is very kind. 10 minutes walk from the restaurants area. There are a couple of beaches nearby....

When we first arrived it was so hot. I thought I would be so happy once I got to my air-conditioned room. Ha right! No AC at this place. And I found out not at MANY places! BUT...once I opened that sliding glass door on our 3rd floor balcony I was so happy. The crashing surf RIGHT BELOW the room...

This is an older family-owned hotel. Only 16 rooms. Rooms are dated, but beds were good. Kitchenette functional where we made sandwiches every day. Excellent continental breakfast included with fresh local fruit and good coffee. No daily housekeeping. Great view of the ocean. But it is loud crashing on shore so bring ear plugs if this would bother you. Can...

Okay, this isn't quite luxury. After all, Kona Tiki is one of the less expensive places in Kona. My decision to stay there was basically: "Well, I might be disappointed wherever I stay. We might as well spend less money." We were not disappointed, although the hotel definitely has a few quirks. The hotel is situated right on the ocean,...

I have to say that the two owners are lovely and one of a kind. They were very helpful to us, even if we were not sure to book there. They helped us find some phone numbers and directions, because at first we wanted to search for an hostel instead of hotel. They also offer to hang out there while waiting...

Although it is on West coast and managers rave about sunsets, the lanais all face South so you have to go down to pool area where you get to be hovered over by the resident managers. Interestingly they have grills that are chained down and pool towels are not left out because "locals will steal anything left out". Safe place? How...
