Just came back from a weekend retreat at Roughley Manor Bed & Breakfast and couldn't wait to write my first review. Jan & Gary were perfect hosts at their beautiful grounds which felt like the middle of nowhere. This is a perfect getaway location! The food was delicious, the rooms were fantastic and the conference room was perfect for our...

We had a lovely week-end stay. The owners pay great attention to detail and seem to do everything possible to make guests feel comfortable. The room was immaculate, attractive, comfortable and had everything we needed. The grounds are extremely spacious for an inn of this size. The inn and grounds are full of cozy corners to sit and enjoy life.

As a family of 5 we are always looking for more space. This place has it all. The cholla room was perfect.(large, new, one of a kind) This is a 5 star B&b, from the room decor, to the sprawling grounds(very fun to explore), to the gourmet breakfast. The owls and dog are even interesting/friendly.

Off the beaten path but well worth the drive. This is an outstanding place to stay if you are interested in seeing Joshua Tree National Park.

We stayed at Roughley Manor to attend the celebration of our parent's 50th anniversary. Located outside of Joshua Tree National Park, this bed and breakfast is truly an oasis in the middle of the desert. The owners, Gary and Jan, went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that our celebration went without a hitch. The food...

We just spent 5 nights at Roughley Manor celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary. This was our first time in 29 Palms.  Gary and Jan are fantastic hosts. Breakfasts are amazing! They also accomodated our large group and all of our special requests. Fire in the main room in the middle of the afternoon, no problem. Low carb breakfast, no...

Beginning with the hospitality, comfort and cleanliness and high quality of the accommodations and amenities, to the wonderful setting conveniently located to Joshua Tree N.P., our entire visit was extremely pleasant. Breakfasts were superbly delicious and filling. Tea, fresh baked cookies, and fruit were available at all times of the day and evening. Gary, our innkeeper, was extremely knowledgeable about...

A friend and I spent the last four days at Roughley Manor and have nothing but great things to say about it. We arrived at night, and the dark, sandy side-road leading to it had us wondering what we'd let ourselves in for, but one look at the charming three-story stone house with its drawing room cozily lit in warm...

We spent spent only two days here and wanted to stay for a week. Our room - the Museum Room - is one of two in a old stone building outside the hotel's circle of buildings and had a patio with deck chairs for viewing the desert and wonderful night sky. The room was perfectly clean, warm, and very cozy,...

My wife and I stayed at the Roughley Manor with 10 of our friends on Dec 11, 2010. It should not be called Roughley, but it should be called Lovely. It was all decorated for Christmas. The rooms were priced well and very large with a seating area and very tastfully decorated. Gary and Jan the host were very nice...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly the Roughley Manor, this historic desert inn returns to its roots, honoring Bill & Elizabeth Campbell, the original homesteaders in the 1920's. Step back in time and experience old-world charm at this historic desert inn, located minutes from Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert, California. Choose from two guest suites on the second floor of the historic Colonial style house, and ten suites and cottages on the surrounding property. What began as a modest homestead property in 1925 has been transformed over the years into a modern day desert oasis, with twelve spacious and luxurious guest suites. Unlike anything you'll find in the Mojave Desert, The Campbell House is a Philadelphia style Colonial house built in the late 1920's by early homesteaders and renowned archeologists Bill & Elizabeth Campbell. Set on 25 secluded acres, surrounded by towering Washingtonia fan palms and lush gardens, The Campbell House property offers a peaceful retreat, where you can experience the quiet and calm of the open desert. Discover Joshua Tree National Park, experience our breathtaking starry night skies. Rejuvenate with a massage, followed by a dip in the pool or hot tub. Find some shade and unwind in one of our many gardens, or play a game of bocce ball with the kids and reconnect. The time is yours. Choose from two guest suites on the second floor of the main house, and ten cottages on the surrounding property. Enjoy complimentary breakfast, pool and hot tub access, and on-site massage therapy. Rooms are spacious and elegantly decorated. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and Direct TV. Select rooms are pet-friendly. ... more   less
