We chose State Game Lodge as we love historic inns. There are three places to stay, the main lodge, which is charming but noisy, the attached motel- like rooms (yuck) or the newest part, Creekside, a few hundred yards from the main lodge. We love our sleep, so that was our choice. Our room was large, with a small sofa...

We stayed at the State Game Lodge, inside of Custer State Park. If you are looking for luxury, Try Rapid City instead, a short distance away. If you like, history, and times past, it was great. With so much to see and do, how much time do you stay in your room, anyway? In the lobby, there is a big...

Staff in the office was friendly. Cleaning crew was inconsiderate parking the wrong way making it difficult to load. Rooms were small heat was on and we had full beds instead of queen. Bathroom had mold carpet felt gross and had carpet strip sticking through.

As a last minute reservation, we split 3 nights between the "basic" but quiet and comfortable motel unit (2 nights) and a third night in the much more expensive "historic" but ultimately very unsatisfactory Eisenhower Suite in the main Game Lodge building. Avoid Eisenhower at all costs! The room is tiny, has a bed too high for me (5'2") to...

We loved the location as it gave us a variety of directions to choose to explore. The food at the lodge was amazing. The staff very friendly and helpful. There is so much to do in the area that a helpful hint from locals comes in handy. Loved every minute and would stay again in a heartbeat. Also, the lodge...

Stayed one night in the Creekside Lodge. Everything is fresh and clean. Only drawback was having to walk far in the dark to the other building for meals. The breakfast buffet was yummy. The dinner was bland. It was raining so they let us keep our bicycles in our room - very nice!

Staying in a creek side cabin at State Game Lodge was the centerpiece of our week long stay in the Black Hills area. The historic buildings and main lodge are filled with information and artifacts. Walking through the halls and public areas brought out the feeling of presidential grandeur. President Calvin Coolidge vacationed here and left his mark. Surrounded by...

We had reserved a patio room in the newer lodge a month before we traveled to Custer State Park. Instead , we were first given a room looking out over the parking lot. After a bit of discussion , we were finally given the type of room we had requested. We were congenial in our approach knowing that works best....

My wife and I like to stay inside of a park when we visit parks and we do not camp. This trip we are traveling with our Bernese Mountain Dog. The place is a throwback. The lodge is historic, and staying there gave us a very different feel than staying in one of the nearby towns. The grounds near the...
