What a great find this place is, jut a few minutes from Volcan! The Casa grande Bambito Highlands resort has it all… A delicious restaurant with a variety of excellent food, a barbecue restaurant, and a little store for milkshakes and sweets! The icy cold watermelon juice was to die for! The rooms are large and comfortable… Mine even had a big bathtub, which is a rare commodity in these areas. The Internet was the best we have had traveling throughout the Chiriqui province. There are two pools. Best of all was the excellent customer service we received! A special shout out goes to Jose at the restaurant, Raul at the front desk and our amazing housekeeper Zenaida! They were all very kind and accommodating! This hotel is on a beautiful property along a river! A special treat was buying fish food at the front desk and feeding what looked to be like speckled trout in the evening. This is a great place for all!

The property is very nice because it is fully surrounded by nature. There is a river passing next to the hotel giving a sense of great peace to the place. The common areas are pretty nice but the rooms are very old and not kept properly. Had some issues with the restaurant food multiple times...

I've been traveling around Panama for weeks now and all previous hotels have been kind of mediocre, but this hotel has just been a pleasant surprise. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, good restaurant, but most importantly: all the staff is sooo kind and thoughtful that makes the whole stay a delightful experience.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

I bought 1 offer and when I redeemed it they put more than 10 obstacles in my way to not redeem it and reading the comments I better asked for a refund (and I hope they return it)
Don't buy from them, terrible customer service.
They do not give options, it is when they want and they add restrictions that were not stipulated at the beginning.

Despite reporting that he was disabled
They put me in the last room upstairs
Climbing many steps in the rain
With uneven floors, no railings and no night light on the stairs.

No room service in case it's raining.

As for the cleanliness it's fine but
Just a toilet paper for 3 days and two nights.

The breakfast very good and assorted, I give 5 points, but lunch and dinner if not so good in terms of its taste, I give 2 points.

The place where the hotel is located is very beautiful and quiet.

The only thing that the entrance street is under repair and is half dangerous with machinery.

We stayed at the Casa Grande Bambito hotel over the New Years holiday (Thursday-Monday). We were 3 families, 6 adults and 9 kids (4-11).
First, the good part:
- The hotel has been recently renovated and is in very good shape. The rooms are big enough, LCD TVs in every room with kid and movie channels.
- The hotel restaurant was very good. Varied menu, very reasonable prices.
- The staff was very friendly and helpful. Always tried to help and were very attentive.
- There are a lot of activities to do right on the hotel property: A single zip-line ride, tubing down the river (5 minutes only), fishing for trout in a pond, horseback rides, and more. The kids loved all the activities.

Now, the bad:
- Two of our rooms had the back luck to share a faulty water heater. For 3 days, we almost didn't have hot water. Eventually they fixed the problem, but they refused to give a credit for the problem, either with a discount, a free night, or something. That was bad.
- There are no phones in the rooms. If you want to talk to the lobby, call them on your cell phone. If you don't have a cell phone, you need to walk out to them. A hotel like this should fix the problem asap.
- Wi-fi internet, although free, is very slow and seldom reaches the rooms.

All in all, we had a great time but wish the water situation would be fixed.
Be aware that the area is windy and cold (about 18c), so take a warm sweather or jacket.

Things to do while in the area:
- Very close to the hotel you'll see two or three strawberry dessert places, which are great and a local treat.
- Go white water rafting. Look up Panama Rafters, we had a great time with them. Children as small as 5 years old can go on the raft.
- Try to set up a 4x4 ride through Boquete
- Visit the farms around the area, many have eco-tours where they show you around the horses, cows, flowers, etc.

We stayed here during kick tour of Volcan, Cerro Punta y Boquete. We stayed at a Royal Suite (R1 to be exact) for 1 night. We were 4 adults and 3 kids.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was algo advantageous from that angle that place was not very busy.

Room was clean. My only issue here was availability of warm water in showers. The water was not warm at all though nor was it cold either. Temperature made shower not pleasant.

They advertised the pools yet they were empty during our stay. Nobody said that during our reservation and our Kids were interested on hanging by pool.

The playground next to the river was just ok as it is old and needs updating/repair.

Restaurant was not very good. Food was just ok but there were lots of flies/insects inside building, making eating not enjoyable.

In general, this is a good place for price and would return in future.

Very pleasant mountain location alongside a rippling stream and lush gardens with lots of hummingbirds with good trekking opportunities. We had an Oferta Simple deal but were upgraded to a royal suite - a little mini lodge next to the main building. The decor throughout is rather tired and as the lodges are entirely made of wood can be a bit noisy if you have loud neighbors as we did on one of our nights. Service was excellent and friendly. The restaurant was OK but could try harder - and in the middle of an area of dairy farming and strawberry growing, it's a shame they don't showcase their own homemade jams and dairy produce - the butter pats at breakfast were imported. Wifi worked only in the main reception bar and restaurant. Little minibuses regularly pass by on the main road if you want to nip up to Guadalupe or in to Volcan.

We were transferred here by our travel agents from Los Quetzales, a few miles away due to 70 school children moving in on our second night.

We were struck by the welcome, the cleanliness and the willingness to help with anything we wanted. When I enquired about the price it really was a few dollars more, and I gather some flexibility. The grounds were immaculate, several acres of land, water rafting on the river, and I understand there are trails through the grounds. The hotel is well situated for visits to Volcan and Amistad, and the local environment is very attractive.
The food in the restaurant was freshly cooked, well presented and tasty, with a good choice.

We were the only guests in the hotel, probably due to exceptionally bad weather in the whole of Panama. We felt that the hotel needed to come alive with more guests and then it would be more buzzy, the only thing it lacked was vibrancy.

Husband, sister and I drove up the narrow mountain to the location. If you drive, you have to be extremely careful as the road is not the best. The road is a bit treacherous if you are not accustomed to driving uphill. We drove from Santiago, Panama because it was so hot in that particular part of Panama. We figured that the temperature would be pleasant. It was more than pleasant as far as the temp. It was chilly, about sixty degrees in the shade and about sixty five degrees in the sun. The place is located in an out of the way path but it is very nice. We stayed in one of the cabins. This particular cabin had two bedrooms, one with a shower in the room and the other washroom was in the hall. No air conditioning, no fan. However, it is warm enough with blankets. You do need a sweater and some type of warm clothing . There is fridge, a stove, a nice tv in the sitting room. Pleasant place. Furniture is in need of replacement but beds are OK. The restaurant is clean. There was one waiter serving and he did OK. Food is fine. It is not very expensive. Great Panamanian breakfast! It is cooked to order and the staff is very accomodating.
There is a lot to see in regards to the ecosystem. We hired a guide who had her own car. Even though the owner of the agency stated a different price, when he got there he said it would be double if the guide drove. We opted for the guide and her car as it was a stick shift car and she is familiar with the terrain. I guess the owner of the company thought one of us would drive and the guide would just talk to us about the different parts of the countryside. We did see a lot of the countryside. Much to see. Don't miss the beautiful Jansen Farm which has a coffee plantation. The coffee is delicious! We bought one bag and wished we had purchased more. We also went to a farm where race horses go to end their run. Beautiful thoroughbred horses. A wonderful setting with lush plants, flowers and of course, a gift shop. Make sure that you try the coffee everywhere you go if you are a coffee lover. However, beware of instant coffee. That seems to be popular there as well.
We enjoyed the hotel and the tours. There is a spa. My sister booked a massage and said it, was fine. The pool is small and the water is cold. So, if you like cold water and sunshine, then by all means take a nice soak.
We would go back.
