We are currently staying one night in this hotel and were pleasantly surprised for our dollar. I booked online 3 hours prior to arriving and we were greeted with a lovely warm reception. My three main expectations when checking into a hotel is 1/ clean.... 2/ bed and 3/ shower water pressure....this hotel ticks all three boxes. The room is...

I was in town for a conference and booked at the Lafayette to experience New Orleans charm. The lobby was nice, as was the furniture in the room, but the rest of the facility was pretty disappointing. There were uncaulked dry wall screw holes in the bathroom, the bathroom mirror was damaged, and the temperature of the room was impossible...

I came for a business meeting. When I arrived, my room wasn't ready so I was told to check back in 45 min. I came back two hours later but the electronic key card system wasn't functioning. After waiting, I had to be let in my housekeeping and get my key later. One day, I came back and the door...

First time in New Orleans. Went for my fiance's birthday. Researched A LOT of hotels. Found this one for a reasonable price ($99 a night). Loved the location and the photos were awe-inspiring. But when we got there, we were not-so-pleasantly surprised. The room left MUCH to be desired and the cost of parking our truck?? $27 PER NIGHT! And...

We stayed here to check it out as it is pet friendly and we usually travel with our dogs. The rooms were standard for a boutique. We had a suite which was nice enough. Staff was helpful. The restaurant was not so helpful, required reservations and not willing to help us when we arrived not knowing that. The hotel would...

I didn't know anything about the Hampton Inn New Orleans Convention Center (where my company had booked the work portion of my trip for 3 nights, or the Lafayette, where my wife and I booked the fun portion of the trip. I expected the Lafayette to be an upgrade (or at least be on par). I was severely mistaken. For...

Located on St Charles street with one of the main New Orleans trams passing by the front of the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff - thanks very much to the 'bell hop' (like a concierge) who persisted in helping me recover the wallet I had left in a jet lagged haze in a taxi from the airport. King suite was...

The Lafayette Hotel is a boutique establishment situated on a corner of Lafayette Square, about 4 blocks to the French Quarter and a tram ride away on the St Charles line to the Garden District and museums. It is located in New Orleans' CBD but is somehow sheltered from the hustle and bustle usually associated with the city centre. We...

Maybe it was just our room. The extra cost for the balcony was not worth it at all as we overlooked a parking lot. Plus, it was the size of a postage stamp, and the French doors had broken glass. Our suite had a decent amount of space but attention to detail was lacking. A broken towel bar in the...

if you are traveling for business this is NOT the hotel for you. Every single hotel employee I encountered was young and inexperienced. The first room I was given didn't have any window coverings in the bathroom and was missing one in the "sitting" room. This wouldn't have bothered me that much except that the rooms on the back side...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
