This hotel was a wonderful experience. They are ideally situated steps away from Bourbon street, but away from the noise. And, they are located near the center of Bourbon street, not one far end or the other. Truly central. The hotel rooms are beautifully decorated with fine antique furniture and they have a nice parlor with coffee and pastries 24/7....

I got a good price online, so I decided to book this hotel. I am so glad that I did! If you are looking for a modern hotel, then look elsewhere. If you want to experience New Orleans charm, then you will enjoy this hotel. This hotel feels more like home than a hotel. The staff was very friendly and...

I currently live in Key west and have for over twenty years. Some very dear friends who live here who LOVE New Orleans chose to get married there. Approximately 75 of their friends from here alone in Key West flew in for the wedding. As most of them were staying at "major hotels".....I wanted something that gave me a "feel...

First, the location is hard to beat if you want to be in the French quarters. The room was very cute with a few unfinished items such as a hole in the ceiling where the bathroom exhaust fan should of been. There also seemed to be a little electrical short as our bathroom lights blew out when I turned on...

We were not guests of the hotel. We came to visit and see the lobby, parlor and courtyard. It was built as a single family home in 1839 by Madame Olivier whose family was one of the oldest in colonial Louisiana. The home was built in the Creole Greek Revival style, and is one of the best preserved building of...

We stayed at the Olivier House over Christmas 2016 and we thought it was a wonderful place. It is a series of homes all connected together and it has a wonderful charm to the place. The world's smallest elevator and the sign forbidding ballroom dancing gave us a chuckle every time we got in it. The room was large and...

My wife and I brought our college senior here to celebrate her 21st birthday in the French quarter, which happens to be 2 days before Christmas. The hotel is lovely, 1/2 a block up from Bourbon St., not pretentious at all. Very accommodating staff and a wonderful self serve coffee bar. We were told that this was 5 large houses...

My husband and I stayed in the garden suite for 3 nights and had such a great time. The hotel itself was clean and quaint; packed with history. There was complimentary coffee, tea, and fruit in the lobby which was delish. I cannot say enough about the location of this hotel. We didn't use an uber/taxi/trolley/train once while here; we...

My husband and I just got back from a 3 day trip to NOLA. I booked the garden room at the Oliver House Hotel a few months ago upon finding a pretty good deal online. We were so happy with our stay. We didn't take an uber/bus/trolley/taxi one time during our stay. The hotel is so centrally located, we were...

Wonderful charming property, it was originally a private home and still retains that feeling. Close to everything, yet quiet. Rates are very reasonable, especially parking, and the staff are fun, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Our room was large, clean, comfortable, and well appointed (we especially appreciated the in-room refrigerator). This was our first stay at this hotel, and we loved...

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
