We went for the Sugar Bowl and stayed at this hotel the night after (Jan 2nd). The location is excellent and the view from our room was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and clean and most of the staff was friendly and accommodating. The issue was that we paid for a river view room and when we arrived at our...

We stayed here for the city scape vacation club trip. The rooms are ok, the hotel is dated but going through a reno at the moment. The location is perfect, you can walk to French Quarter, business district, Mississippi River,bus/train line and tones of restaurants. I did like the concierge floor which provided free breakfast and snacks. There is a...

Stayed for Ohio States versus Alabama game January 1, 2015. Awakened by LOUD drilling noises and hammering around 8 AM. Hotel is doing renovations. Had I known I would have stayed elsewhere. Mike the manager was very rude, in my opinion, and offered the poor solution of having us move to new room with rollout bed. Paid $350 for room...

I would say this hotel is very typical of a hotel of it's star level in that it's very nice, but you have to pay for things that you get for free at other hotels. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, but there's a charge to have it in your room. Breakfast is anything but free. The parking charge is...

Great location and great service. We stayed here New Years Eve week whuch is also the Sugar Bowl week. This was the Ohio State team hotel and service was still great eventhough this place was a mad house. The best part is that we arrived at 11am and were allowed to check in early. The concierge room on the 21st...

I generally stay away from large, brand name accommodations; primarily these chains do not allow me to take advantage of various discounts [auto club, etc.]. But I found an exception. My travels took me to New Orleans at the beginning of the holidays where [as usual] my standards for a place to stay applied: clean, safe, location, and reasonable service...

Enjoyed the location of the Marriott on Canal Street. Listened to other travelers complain of the noise in the Quarter, but we were right on the edge of the Quarter, so we had all the convenience of enjoying it all, and still sleeping at night! We loved our river view. Only had free wi-fi in the lobby, but that worked...

I spent 7 nights at the Marriott and II found all of the staff to be courteous, helpful, and ready to be of assistance from the front desk, to the concierge, to the doormen. My room was comfortable and kept clean and tidy. The location was great and very easy to get to all of the tourists spots.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
