We booked the best room of the house and it was not a disappointment. It was large, inviting and had a private balcony (you can see it in the pic!). The area it was in was off the beaten path giving you a real feel for other parts of NOLA. Best to take an Uber to the french quarter and... More

We stayed for our "honeymoon/elopement" Halloween weekend. This was the most perfect and quirky hotel within our price range. The owner was very charming. This is a bed a breakfast, so our morning meals were here. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 which were delicious. The details are gorgeous. It is not centrally located in the French quarter. It's about a 10/15 walk from it.... More

My husband and I always stay in the Quarter, but upon a recommendation decided to branch out and stay here. We loved this place. This place had the laid back vibe of staying at a friends, but with all the comforts and luxury of a B&B stay. Rooms were great with comfortable beds. Since it was labor day weekend, it... More

When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised at just how beautiful yet quaint and unpretentious the property was. The off street parking was a huge bonus as well even though it was often tight. Even though the innkeeper was on the phone with a customer when I arrived, he promptly ended the phone call and graciously checked me in quickly... More

I booked on an online website which stated free cancellation for a date 9 months ahead. Within two hours I cancelled. They charged my card for $165 and are not honoring the "free cancellation" of the booking site. It is sad they have to rip people off to earn a living.

The refund was given on the same day the reservation was cancelled! Depending on the credit card company refunds may not always be reflected on an account immediately. With some credit card companies it can take a billing cycle. Obviously we cannot be responsible for the policies and procedures of credit card companies. Also, we cannot accept responsibility for promises... More

Within walking distance to the French Quarter but away from the tourists in a quiet, funky neighborhood. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts, and a friendly, fun, and welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to go back.

Of course it's a five. We'd give more if we could. We stayed at Maison de Macarty for 5 days towards the end of July and had a wonderful experience there. The hotel is located in a calm and beautiful are (Bywater) about 15 minutes away from the French Quarter through Crescent Park. There are also 2 buses from and... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in July. We have been to New Orleans many times and usually stay in the French Quarter or CBD, but were curious about the Bywater. Maison de Macarty had a special summer deal, so we rented the "pool house" cottage, which is located in the back of the property. The innkeeper,... More

First of all, we didn't get to stay here, so my comments are limited to our lost deposit. Back in February we booked 2 nights here for end June, after reading the excellent reviews and paid a deposit by credit card of $169.37. 3 days before we were due to leave the UK (6th June) I was told I couldn't... Credit card charges that are over 120 days old cannot be refunded back to the credit card. This is not our policy, but the policy of the credit card processors. This guest fell outside that 120 day window. I sent a check to the guest and a second check because she hadn't received the first. I was surprised to see... More

We love the Maison de Macarty! We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and have enjoyed French Quarter luxury hotels and condo rentals throughout the Marigny Triangle and the Bywater neighborhoods. Comfortable, unpretentious, and relaxing while showing off a bit of southern grace and charm, the Maison de Macarty has the right 'vibe' for us. We have stayed here twice,... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
