All the reviews say exactly what I would say only I would add that John is the most knowledgeable man we’ve met, he would talk at breakfast to all the guests about absolutely everything and was able to answer every question on New Orleans be it history politics or where to shop. As we arrived we found John had hung...

We reunited in New Orleans after hubby completed a two week bicycle tour from Florida to Texas. We couldn't have chosen a better place. John greeted us upon our arrival, showed us around and offered suggestions for dinner. The courtyard was inviting and a great place to have a drink and relax and became a favorite spot to enjoy the...

La Maison Marigny Bed and Breakfast was a great choice for our stay in New Orleans. Besides the beautiful home, we had a great location, great food, and great hosts. They gave us a lot of tips on where to go and what great restaurant to try. We had the freedom to enjoy the whole house and help ourselves in...

My wife and I have been to New Orleans for many anniversaries, but when our normal B&B was unavailable we took a stab in the dark and chose La Maison Marigny. From the first moment we made contact we felt almost like part of the family! And when we got there, I found that my nervousness about an unknown place...

New Orleans is a fantastic city! We think so probably in part because of John and Dewey (and houseman Ken) who made our visit, and Le Maison Marigny, so wonderful. It was our fifth anniversary so we booked the anniversary package. Beautiful roses awaited us at arrival, followed by a bottle of white zinfandel. Yes, I know it's an awful...

A perfect sanctuary for New Orleans visitors! Comfortable rooms with gorgeous eclectic decor, quiet location just a stone's throw away from all the action, yummy warm muffins to delight you each morning! John and Dewey are the perfect hosts: attentive, informative and extremely friendly! We had a BALL! We can't wait to stay at La Maison Marigny again and party...

We stayed four nights at La Maison Marigny and couldn't have been happier. The rooms are warm and inviting and the courtyard is a relaxing place to read or enjoy the yummy breakfasts. We stayed in the Owner's Suite -- gorgeous to look at, immaculately clean, very comfortable, with an enormous fluffy bed! John was very helpful and shared his...

We absolutely loved La Maison Marigny!! The owner's suite was so comfortable and very nicely done. It was hard to get out of bed every morning! John was so knowledgeable about the city and things to do. We did nearly everything he recommended and we had an absolute ball! The Marigny was immaculately clean, the refrigerator was always stocked with...

Spent four fun nights at La Maison Marigny. Close to all the excitement yet far enough away to be peaceful. The B&B is wonderfully decorated and the courtyard is beautiful. John was a gracious host offering tips and ideas throughout our stay. The homemade muffins were an unexpected pleasure and something we'll never forget! Great place to stay with friends....

We Highly recommend La Maison Marigny. John and Dewey are very hospitable and have a beautiful and comfortable guest house. A great location - just a half/block outside of the French Quarter on a quiet, resedential part of Bourban Street - all of the charm without any of the commotion. This was our first time to New Orleans and we...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

“The upstairs room in the back is nice and quiet. But the street is one block outside the Quarter, so the whole house is quite peaceful”

“We checked out all the rooms and they are all super cute and charming. The one over the back courtyard is probably quieter because it faces away from the street. Same with the room in the middle of the upstairs. But we didn't think it was noisy in the suite and that has a room facing the street.”
