The house is great! i liked the ambiance and the decor, very tastefully done. It does give the whole place a rundown and laid-back feel, exactly what one expects in N'Awlins. Our poor stay probabaly is teh consequence of the room we stayed in. We got the "Pirates Attic ", a tiny space with a bad bed, questionable plumbing in...

We're glad that you enjoyed our home in the French Quarter. Many, many of our guests have enjoyed the ambiance of our 1870s house which truly is an authentic experience. Sometimes, however, the people are as quirky as the place where they live. We're sorry you felt negatively & hope you will visit this great city again.

Not what we were expecting. Our room, the "Mardi-Gras" room was not very comfortable. The bathroom was old and not very clean. There is construction going on across the street and you can hear it starting up at 7:00 AM! Probably for another 4 to 6 months. I had a bag on top of the dresser that I guess the...

The Banana Courtyard is a great place to stay in New Orleans. My friend and I visit New Orleans about twice a year and this will be our go-to place to stay from now on. The owners, Mary and Hugh are super cool and eclectic. The house is full of antiques, art, etc. and is very cozy. You feel right...

If you are going to Nola - stay at the Banana Courtyard! Fantastic house, great hosts and service, close to FQ and everything else you may want to see! Hugh and Mary and the staff are more than willing to help you plan what to see and where to eat, etc. My room (carriage room) was wonderful - and I...

The Banana Courtyard was fabulous, a cool oasis in a hot and humid city, with nothing being too much trouble for the hosts, Mary and Hugh. I loved the quietness of the place, but within easy walking distance of the french quarter or the tram to take you beyond. The complimentary soda's and fruit were lovely to come back to...

My wife and I stayed here nov.of 08 and was it an expierience . Mary arranged our cab to the B&B and met us there. After showing us our suite, she personally showed us the way to Bourbon St. (with a cast on). Breakfast with the other guests was a treat. Not enough things could be said about this place...

Almost lost our opportunity to stay here, due to miscommunication re: arrival dates but Mary, our proprietess, jumped through hoops to accommodate us. The website was packed with info and read like a mini guidebook helping to plan our itinerary prior to and upon our arrival. Stanley , our driver, aka, tour guide, was readily available to whisk us to our...

The 1870 Banana Courtyard French Quarter is a really lovely family-run B&B right on the northern corner of the French Quarter, so everything is within easy walking distance. The innkeepers Mary and Hugh are very friendly folks who make you feel welcome right from the first email response and are very helpful with tips on ongoing events, restaurants, what not...

Arriving after a long day my eyes popped out on stalks when I saw our room, the biggest bed this side of debauchery! The Hexagon room is truly a beautiful place to stay, grand and decadent with luxuriant, old style fixtures and fittings complete with it's own fainting couch as well as satellite TV. My favourite room, however, was our...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
