The people are very friendly. The rooms look nice and very antiquated. There is a terrible smell of mildew and the windows are so old they can't be opened. I shut the air conditioning off in the room. I hope that will help as my husband and I are both allergic to mold and I am asthmatic. I would have... More

Dear Valerie, I want to thank you for taking a moment out to write this review and bringing this problem to my attention. I want to apologize for whatever aroma you have picked up, but I can assure you it is not mildew or mold. With our humidity levels increasing with the start of spring, sometimes it will throw off... This and the other Patania hotels by the same company are conveniently located in the Garden District near the St. Charles streetcar line that you can ride down to the French quarter or uptown. The neighborhood is a little funky and has the feel of the real New Orleans. Has free parking. They are furnished very nicely. Breakfast lunch and... More

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the hotel. It is perfectly located in the Lower Garden District. It was quaint gem with nice private balcony. I hate to even review because more people will find out about this place and the rates will probably go up because of it. But I have to give the hotel it's due.... More

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at this quaint hotel before a recent cruise. We left our car on premises during the cruise and took a short taxi ride to the cruise terminal. The hotel staff was friendly and pleasant at check in and check out. Our "Oaks King" first floor room was nice and clean, although if you... More

Toward the east end of the Garden District, a short block from St. Charles. It's within easy distance of most of what you want to see in New Orleans. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. I couldn't have asked for anything better. One other thing -- I left a shirt there. Before nightfall I got an email from management... More

This hotel is in the Garden District of New Orleans and I loved that it was 25+. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice, tasteful, and CLEAN our room was! The only thing that was a little bit of a disappointment was the clerk who checked us in. I wouldn't say he was rude, but during two separate interactions... More

My husband and I stayed here this past Saturday night. We love to stay in the Garden District when we come, but the city was packed this weekend, and everything was full. We stumbled upon this cute, little boutique hotel. I checked the reviews on trip advisor, and everyone had nothing but nice things to say. I must admit, they... More

This was the very first hotel we stayed in when we visited New Orleans in 2009. We found it on Bookit.com by searching for free WIFI, free parking, and free breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out it was an adult only hotel. The rooms were recently renovated then, and it was so quiet and relaxing. It's situated... More

The hotel is a converted house, close to Charles Street and a trolly stop. I had a delightful room, with four poster, excellent bathroom and high ceiling. The staff helpful and cheerful. You have to collect your key from their sister hotel round the corner. There is free parking off road next to the hotel. Breakfast, also in the sister... More

We stayed at the Prytania Oaks for two nights to check out New Orleans a little before a cruise. This darling little hotel was perfect. It has all the charm of an old N.O. home with the iron railing in the front, The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The bathroom was amazing, even had a fireplace...not a working one... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
