While I usually stay at chain hotels, once I discovered the Henry Howard I knew there would be no better place to stay in New Orleans, and it was the best decision I made the whole trip. Being that it is a converted mansion, it felt almost more like staying at a good friend's (beautiful and huge) house than in... More

Later 1800's mansion nicely converted to 18 room hotel. Our room was small but very accommodating and extremely quiet. Staff most helpful and friendly. We preferred the Garden District over staying in the bustling French Quarter. We rode the trolley just a block away all day for $3 each. The ante bellum houses in the area were magnificent.

After having an awful experience at another hotel in New Orleans, the Henry Howard was exactly the respite we needed. The building is incredibly charming, and our room was cozy and well appointed, with a super-comfy bed. We also loved the coffee setup, the adorable go cups, and the heavenly chocolate chip cookies at turndown (in fact, our only complaint... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment at the Henry Howard Hotel. Luxe while still friendly and in a great location! Great coffee and restaurants in walking distance. Loved the charm of the property. Could not have been more perfect for our stay in New Orleans!

Henry Howard is a breathtaking renovated mansion in the New Orleans Garden District, which offers a lush place to hang your hat after a day of sightseeing and before heading out to explore the music filled night! Beds as soft as clouds, and nightly turn down service that includes warm chocolate chip cookies doesn't hurt, either ;)

This is a very clean and well kept property. Adding "hotel" to the name is a bit misleading, however. This is more like a guest house. There are no meals served and it is minimalistic as far as staffing. In other words, there is no service beyond being able to ask for a recommendation on a restaurant or with help... More

First trip to NOLA. came with expectations of a slightly clean tiajuana which is slightly true where most hotels are located. HHH is very convenient for trolley giving you great access to all of NOLA. Staff was wonderfully accommodating and generous.

We had an excellent stay - friendly staff, good coffee, great local tips and recommendations from the staff, and a comfortable and beautifully appointed room. The location is really nice for exploring the garden district. We were in the first room as you enter, which is a higher-traffic area, but still quiet, so we didn't have any issues.

I visit New Orleans at least 2 to 3 times a year... I lived there for 6 years and I never get enough of my home away from home. Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
