When we first arrived here in our hire car I thought we made a mistake and checked the address. How could we be this far away from everything in what we now know as a "unsafe" area. Next we were greeted by Carl the owner, who only spoken to ask for his fee, a very depressing host. The upside of...

I am very sorry that you were disappointed and also received some inaccurate information about the safety of the area. Check the crime maps, which are publicly available, and you will see that the Marigny is safer than the French Quarter or the CBD (where the chain hotels are located). If you don't explore the neighborhood by foot, but just...

I booked this B&B based on previous reviews and I think I must have stayed in a different place! Apart from the check in, got very little engagement from Carl, his personality is more suited to that of an undertaker. The rooms are dated and need work to get them up to a standard matching his nightly rate. The showers...

Quiet, comfortable B&B about 1/2 mile from Jackson Square. Carl the owner is very helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. Breakfast was always interesting and fun. We walked into all the local attractions, and took the streetcars elsewhere, all convenient. Nice place.

We stayed at the Burgundy for a week. The location is perfect, within walking distance of pretty much everything we wanted to see and do, and right near several trolley and bus lines in case we wanted to go farther. The innkeeper presents a nice cold breakfast (there are a few hot options, just didn't have them) every morning and...

My husband just surprised me with a trip to New Orleans for my 60 th birthday. Never been before. We stayed at the burgundy B&B for 4 days. We wanted for nothing!!!! Wonderful host Carl was full of great suggestions on activities as well educating us on the history of the area. It was a perfect location with only a...

Everything about The Burgundy B&B was exceptional! Our host was a lot of fun. We ended up talking well into the night multiple times. It felt like a family right away. The hot tub in the courtyard was delightful, and everything was just all around lovely. I will never stay in a hotel again if I have the choice because...

The owner was very accommodating, taking us on a tour of the whole house and available amenities, and offering his knowledge of the local sights as soon as we arrived. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable enough for the three of us. The one thing that stands out the most, however, was that the sheets did not...

Thank you for your kind review. As to the sheets, I can assure you that they were freshly washed! Perhaps you are used to perfumed detergents - we use 'free and clear' perfume and allergen free detergent, so that you might have missed that "fresh" smell that perfumed detergents promise??

I stayed at The Burgundy B&B in 2012 and loved it so much that when I visited New Orleans again 6 months later for Jazz Fest, I made sure to book a room here again. The house is lovely, colourful and very cosy, and the neighbourhood is fantastic. Carl is a great host who is very welcoming and helpful in...

The Burgundy is certainly a bed and breakfast but after a very short time there, it feels like a home, your home. Carl, who owns the Burgundy Bed and Breakfast also lives on the premises. He is practically invisible until you want or need something and then he seems to just appear. He is an instinctive, natural host who has...

The Burgundy is a quaint B&B in the Marigny area. There's very easy access to Frenchman's street and the streetcar is only about 8 blocks away. The owner is a pleasant man that was very accommodating. My only complaint would be that in the middle of a shower the water went cold and stayed that way about 3 minutes before...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
