This is the most social hostel I have ever stayed in. There is a swimming pool (which I didn't swim in because it was warm and eeeww backpacker dirty germs breeding) and everyone hangs out and meets new friends outside in the courtyard. I stayed in a female dorm in the main house (there are a few houses that belong...

I stayed here during the 2015 jazz festival for a week. The place was a great price and was just a short street car ride from the French quarter. People here were so friendly and it was easy to meet new people from many countries. It wasn't the cleanest place but it wasn't disgusting. Bring a lock to lock your...

This was my first hostel experience, but I didn't have any expectations! The room was clean, the shared bathroom was a little rundown- but what can you expect? This is a hostel- not a 5 star hotel! A lot of unique people, kitchen, shared room. Not too loud! Very basic accommodations, but somewhere cheap- so you can spend more money...

How this hostel is not condemned under OHSW laws is beyond me. The fridges are bulging with abandoned and discarded food and bugs are literally running rampant. The guests are not considered trustworthy of crockery and cutlery and plastic and styrofoam is used as an environmentally unfriendly alternative. The staff are haphazard and unfriendly to say the least. There is...

I will start by saying I bring my husband and son to this delightful little mid-city gem because we come to NOLA to play, go, see, do, and eat--NOT to sit in our hotel room. We always reserve the room with a private shower and toilet. There's a bunk for each of us and room for the kiddo's air mattress....

It was my first time staying at a hostel and it was pretty good, friendly staff who we're willing to answer any questions and give recommendations. It was pretty clean and have home cooked meals every night for a cheap price. I'd go there again

Stayed in a 6-bed dorm, which had AC and was located in the main house (the hostel owns several houses nearby). Great and affordable breakfast. $5 homemade dinner if you're travelling on a budget. Good amenities plus a swimming pool! An absolute highlight. I highly recommend India house hostel.

The GOOD: -very accessible to & from everywhere. 1) from MSY airport. Take the E2 bus directly across the service road on the upper level of the airport for $2. Ask the bus driver to let u know when u get to S. Lopez Street stop. Cross the street & walk about 6 blocks to get to the place. 2)...

Well, staying at hostels is always a hit or miss kind of thing. Fortunately for me, I've always had pretty good experiences. India House Hostel was pretty ick for me though. We stayed in one of the private rooms, NOT ensuite. The room was large and roomy with a couple of nice windows and pretty cool hardwood floors. The airconditioner...

The India House has something going on. Though the staff isn't the most friendly people they have achieved a very good balance in the energy of the place. Our private room was shy but met the expectations. Got AC to bear NOLA's intense heat and humidity. Definetely the best part of our stay was we got the chance to meet...
