Russell (proprietor) offers a great Bed and Breakfast in a beautiful section of the town. City Park across the street was a great way to get exercise and feed the ducks and geese. The (Cypress) room accommodations were cozy and offered a great respite to the crazy days and nights of Mardi Gras. Waking up in the morning, a delicious...

Russell is an amazing host. Couldnt ask for a better host. The home was amazing, beyond my expectations. Breakfast was served every morning 9 am sharp. The food was very delicious, and everything was made from scratch. Stayed for Mardi Gras 2017, with my bestfriend, and we had an amazing time. Home was walking distance to the streetcar/bus, which took...

Warm southern hospitality from Russell. Very accomodating to our needs for the wedding across the street in city park. Quiet neighborhood, enjoyed the front porch view. Great location with local cuisine close by. Open bar was VERY useful!! Thank you Russell and Oakview Bed and Breakfast for making our day very special. The pictures shown do no justice for the...

My husband and I just finished spending 4 nights at this bed and breakfast. We absolutely fell in LOVE!! The location is fabulous and Russell is the most wonderful host!! My husband arranged a long weekend in celebration of earning our Associate's Degrees. I was slightly concerned with the location, as the vacation was a surprise without having the opportunity for my own input. The Oakview was PREFECT!! You can not ask for a better location, as it overlooks the live oaks in the City Park and one block away...

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Oak view is a lovely 100 year old historic Victorian. It is ideally located across the street from the famous City Park and the New Orleans Museum. That means we are walking distance to Jazz Fest, across the street from Voodoo Fest, two blocks from the start of the Endymion Parade, two blocks from the historic Cemetery, around the corner from Bayou Bogaloo festival, and a very short distance to the French Quarter, downtown and the convention center. The trolly stops in front of the door.Further the crescent city classic race and most other races and marathons ends here at the park across from the bed and breakfast. Unbelievable but true.We also feel that we are at least in the TOP 10 for the best Bed and Breakfast not number 25. WE are totally new, totally renovated and modernly upgraded with whirlpools in every room. ... more   less
