We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunburst Inn, it was in a great location, we walked to the French Quarter - 20 minutes, Frenchmen Street 10 minutes and ate at several restaurants just a few blocks away. Our hosts Darrell and Glenn were very helpful, I did not expect to see them much based on some of the other...

I did not know the owners or their guesthouse but a friend from California recommended this guest house to me. The price was very reasonable and the location, in an area I knew little about, turned out to be great: an easy walk to the French Quarter but in an adjacent area with charm of its own. Booking was easy...

My husband and I recently stayed at the Sunburst Inn for a long weekend. Darrell was really easy to work with and quick to respond to our questions. We stayed in the Diamond Room which was really perfect for our needs! It had such character, and a huge comfortable bed and bathtub! All the perks were in the room too...

I enjoyed my stay here but it is important to note that this is a guesthouse, not a bed and breakfast. You have a comfortable room with a few snacks and drinks (including your own Kurig) in the room, but there is no breakfast served. If you are looking for the socialization usually offered by the bed and breakfast format,...

The Sunburst Inn is an amazing, hidden gem in the heart of the Fauborg Marigny. A safe area that is close enough to walk to Frenchman Street (5-10 minutes; for music, art and food) or the French Quarter (15-20 minutes; Bourbon St., Cafe du Monde, etc.) but just far enough away to avoid all the noise and tourists. But you...

My daughter and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Sunburst Inn. We were greeted promptly by one of the very friendly owners who offered suggestions on places to visit during our stay. After both of our hectic schedules leading up to our getaway it was a delight to have found such a cozy and home like atmosphere...

My partner and I stayed at the Sunburst Inn several years ago and still talk about it whenever we speak about our time in New Orleans. It's a cute and quiet bed and breakfast in a great area of town, walking distance from the French Quarter and surrounded by cute restaurants and cafes. If and when we visit New Orleans...

We found this gem by chance ... and boy were we lucky. This lovely little Inn is located in the Marigny neighbourhood just walking distance from the river front, waterfront trails, the river front streetcar, French Quarter, a number of great restaurants. The rooms boast 14" memory foam mattresses that offer a very comfortable and full night's sleep. Licensed with...

We found the Sunburst Inn, and hosts Darrell and Glenn, to be charming. The house is over 100 years old and the woodwork might be described as distressed but it is deliberately so and all part of that charm. Meanwhile, the downstairs King Suite in which we stayed for 5 nights had an exceptionally comfortable bed, a very attractive Art...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The house is a Victorian style built in 1905 and has all the original floors and chandeliers with 12 foot ceilings. We are just 5 blocks for the French Quarter and 3 blocks from the famous Frenchman St. where there is live music and great dining. The Street Car line that travels along the river is 5 blocks away and there are also great little cafes on the Conners from our place. The Marigny neighborhood was vote a top ten place to live in 2010 by the ADA. We like to say that we are far enough but close enough to the madness of the Quarter. ... more   less
