Detailed Reviews
We had a 5 star visit to New Orleans, and the Royal Frenchmen was a big part of it. We loved the intimate bar and the live entertainment. The staff was attentive; the location was great; the continental breakfast was much appreciated. Only negative (relatively minor) was that the room and bathroom were smaller than we would have liked. They were clean, updated and quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Only 2 hangers were supplied in the small closet (at least 10 would have been nice for 2 people). The hotel is definitely walking distance to the French Quarter, and a great location for night time entertainment at the many jazz venues on Frenchmen.

Thank you Debbie for the nice review. I hope you return soon and when you do request a larger guest room . We have large 2 Bedroom Suites Available and Also rooms with two queen size beds with large double sink bathrooms. I agree with you Frenchmen Street is the place to be for music lovers and we try to offer some of the best available. If I can be of any assistance don’t hesitate to call. Best regards, Hugh

We have been to New Orleans a number of times and all but one time, we have stayed at the Frenchmen Hotel to be close to the music that has made Frenchmen Street so popular. Up until now, the Royal Frenchmen Hotel and Bar had not yet opened, so this was our chance. The Royal Frenchmen is on the other end of Frenchmen Street and is a bit more upscale in amenities. They have room safes and morning breakfast. They have coffee makers and refrigerators in the rooms.
They have live music in the bar AND courtyard (sometimes at the same time). The most notable thing however is the staff. Every one of them would bend over backwards for you and treated you more like a local than a tourist. We didn't want to leave. The music on Frenchmen street starts at the hotel itself so essentially the hotel is ground zero for hitting the clubs. The location could not be better. It is also only three blocks from the French Market Streetcar station. The only downside for us was the housekeeping staff didn't restocked the coffee each day. No worries though. The people at the desk have the pods at the ready! Also, if you are not an early riser and have a street facing view, be prepared to be wakened by trains running along the river. Oh the sounds of New Orleans! Oh, and one more thing.
If you use the Airport shuttle, they don't include this hotel on their list yet. They do however stop at the Frenchmen Hotel two blocks away and the driver will most likely drop you off at the Royal Frenchmen. On pickup however, you will have to walk the two blocks to the Frenchmen to be picked up. So allow time for that. Again. Thank you Billy, Liz, Maggie, Ben and all the rest of this great staff!!! Be seeing ya again for sure!!!

Friendly staff.
Strong drink (had 1 lemon drop with a sugar rim on an empty stomach, yummy but not the right move).
Drink served in a plastic cup (seems common in the FQ)
Band was great, music was really good.
Lounge area had limited comfy seating, colorful lights.
Entry: FREE, Non-hotel guests may stop by for live music

Good location and very friendly staff but there were issues..... We had booked a reservation for several days but decided to arrive a day early and made another reservation for the additional day. Meaning we would need to change rooms after the first night. No biggie at all and we were happy to do it and actually so glad we had to change rooms. The first room (305) was very musty/mildew smelling, however the next day we were moved to our original booked room (207) which was better. We were there for 5 nights total and the feeling was more of a "hostel type" feel. The employees were very polite but getting fresh towels, soap, wash cloths, TP etc etc seemed very limited. Upon retuning to our room one evening, we discovered our bed was water soaked through the covers, sheets and mattress protector. We were on the second floor and did not see a leak so are still at a loss how our bed became so soaked while we were away. Again good location and friendly staff,,, but for the $$$ I will pick another location next time.

My room was beautiful with a very spacious bathroom. Comfortable bed and ample hot water. Location is fabulous for enjoying music on Frenchmen Street. Two warnings. 1. bring earplugs because live music plays into the night, even on Sunday. 2. Airport transportation listed as an amenity is that they will call you a cab that you pay for (about $30). I would stay again.

I recently stayed here on a trip from Florida to Phoenix and then again on the way back. Both stays were outstanding! I was traveling with my Italian Greyhound, so I choose the Royal Frenchmen Hotel and Bar because it is pet friendly, and offered secure parking. The hotel is quiet, updated, has remodeled rooms, and is right across the street from a really nice park. The location is right on the edge of the French Quarter, just a short walk from all of the great restaurants, shops and sights.
I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in NOLA!

Second time staying at this hotel. Very spacious, beautiful eclectic decor. You won't find a better location for having live music of the best quality just steps outside your door, seven days a week. Highly recommend. Walk to Jackson Square and the heart of the French Quarter in just 15 minutes, jazz clubs on Frenchmen Street in 2 minutes.

+1
Right at the north end of the live music on Frenchman Street. We had a King Balcony room with views of the park. Hotel is in an old residence, clean, nicely decorated with lots of local art. Could have been 5 star review but felt like the staff was a little too informal, especially upon check in. It didn't really seem like they were interested in us being there, not unfriendly but also not especially welcoming. To be fair, they were helpful if asked for something like cleaning. Also, the bar is closed, apparently some issue with the city. However, that probably was for the best because if the bar was open, likely would be hearing it in the rooms until 2am, as you could hear street noise. For example, in our room, I could hear horse hooves clopping by, or people conversing on the street below.

We stayed here for 3 nights in room 203. This was a king sized room with a shared balcony. The room was a good size with a lovely bathroom. It overlooked a park which during the early parts of the day seemed fine but not a place to go to later on. The room could have been a little cleaner.
However the best part of the hotel was the nightly jazz which we really enjoyed. Plus the happy hour cocktails at a great price. These were the making of the hotel.
Given the area we did expect noise from the various local jazz clubs and this wasn't a problem. The almost continuous shouting in the street until the early hours of the morning was a big issue. Ear plugs were of little help. Coupled with 24/7 of very loud horn blasting. Not sure where from but awful. So for 3 nights we hardly slept. Obviously not the hotel's fault.
A great location for exploring NOLA and within easy walking distance of most sites.

Thank you for the response. I’m glad you had a good time in New Orleans enjoying all the Music and the Hotel Bar. I’m sorry the room didn’t sparkle. It is what I demand and you deserve. I can assure you I’ll get to the bottom of that issue. Next time ask for for a quiet location in the hotel. The room above the bar is the loudest. We look forward to your next trip and hope you will stay with us. Hugh

We found this place on accident after other accommodations fell through and we’re glad we did because this place is a gem! The staff was the thing that really made this place special, they treat you like family and we felt incredibly safe staying here. The rooms were large and cozy and surprisingly quiet even though the street is lively. Beyond that they have a happy hour for 3-8 pm, amazing local music, complementary breakfast and it’s in walking distance of bourbon and canal street, although honestly we mostly stayed on Frenchmen. All the locals we talked to said Frenchmen street was the place to be and they were right! My brother and sister in law stayed at the Marriott and they said they wished they had stayed here instead. Book this place you won’t regret it!

Breakfast at 7am and check in at 3pm
We have limited parking for $30 a night
Parking was awesome. We parked on the street for free next to the hotel. There was parking available inside a gated area.. we didn't feel the need since Street parking was so easy.
