My family went the day after Thanksgiving for breakfast and we were met with friendly faces asking if we wanted a Bloody Mary or a mojito. We were offered several choices including a variety of omelettes, French toast, sausage, bacon. You can't go wrong, as any choice here is a good choice. We all shared food and enjoyed good coffee....

I'm not rating the B&B experience - Just took the tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but in my opinion, this tour left a lot to be desired. You watch an informative (but lengthy) video re: Degas in New Orleans. Then the tour - you look at prints of Degas paintings, sketches, etc - some of which have...

My wife arranged accommodation here, in no small part because she really loved the work of Degas, and I rather enjoy it myself. This was a tricky place to review for several reasons, not the least of which is that the house is, in many lovely respects, a period piece. Let me start by cautioning anyone expecting hi-spec, top-end arrangements...

We are so grateful for your very detailed review of your stay at Degas House. Your review is a good representation and recommendation for anyone who appreciates Edgar Degas, historic house museums, and good breakfast chefs! Obviously, your stay here added much to your New Orleans vacation and we are grateful that you chose to stay with us and took...

We are just getting done staying at the inn today and it has been a wonderful experience. We asked to be upgraded to a room that we were told was having an A/C issue. Even though we were okay with the issue, the staff spent well over an hour making sure that portable A/C units were fully set up and...

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at Degas House and for taking the time to write a review. You are so kind to appreciate the length we go to in order to keep our guests happy and comfortable. It is an older historic home and, as you said, this is New Orleans and the heat and humidity can...

Pam was our guide for a very personal tour. We were the only ones this particular afternoon. She shared so much information about Degas' visit to NOLA and the history of his family that lived there. I was particularly fascinated by the research done to find that the house, over the years, had been divided into two buildings. We are...

Very cool place, it is a historic property that has historical connections to the French artist Degas. You have to understand this when you are booking, as it is an old house and therefore obviously is not going to be like modern hotels so you should understand that. There is no A/C for example and the furniture is old and...

Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay at Degas House during Mardi Gras. It is obvious that you appreciate the home and its connection to Edgar Degas. However, we are not sure why you stated that there is no air-conditioning. In South Louisiana, it would be impossible for there to be no air-conditioning in any type of...

Stay was wonderful. Fascinating tour of the house and history on the life of Edgar Degas ( a little too long approx. 2 hrs.). Service and the breakfast was A+. Stayed four nights for my wife's birthday and they really made her feel special, thanks again Sharon. Had a bottle of sherry in the room that was delicious. Only a...

Thank you for choosing Degas House to celebrate your wife's birthday. We try to treat all our guests to an amazing experience, and when we learn of a guest having a special event such as a birthday, we do what we can to make it memorable. Great room. Great Service. Great breakfast. My travel companion and I had a great experience with the management of the Degas House. After dealing with terrible and rude management with the Rathborne Bed and Breakfast the Degas House welcomed up with open arms. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We were there for a wedding. From the event viewpoint, it was fabulous. The staff & especially wedding coordinator Flora were great. They were helpful, attentive, and accommodating. They staged a beautiful wedding. From the lodging standpoint, it left a lot to be desired. Though the building is historic and charming, it is sorely in need of repairs and maintenance....

Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.

“We avoided the garret rooms because of warnings about the AC. Might have been OK at another time of the year, but not in June.”

“The rooms on the 3rd floor were in bad shape The beds are all old. Cock roaches every where even in the freezer & the fridge!!! This place needs just more renovations & for the price that we paid , it was way way too much ! I would not recommend it at all. Being old & historical is right but mean while can be clean & worthy of stay!!”

  • Main light switch as you enter the room, missing paint and paint cracked
  • More bad paint.
  • This is from inside the bathroom looking out to the second bedroom. The trim was disgusting!
  • Bathroom sink pulling off the wall, mold. Gross.
