The location of the hotel near most of the fun and interesting things to do in the Quarter, Bywater and Marigny make this the perfect place to park and not touch you car until you leave. You can easily access other areas of town via the streetcar across the street. I look forward to visiting again when the music begins to play and you can sit on the balcony in the evening and watch New Orleans wake up late at night. We had a two bedroom unit on the balcony that was very neat and clean.. If trains bother you I suggest staying in a unit opposite the tracks. I also suggest using uber or lyft.

Thank you so much for the 5 Star Review! I am so glad that you had a great stay at the Hotel de la Monnaie. It really is such a "hidden" gem and has an amazing location - for all the reasons you detailed. We are beginning to see New Orleans open up and the music to start...something that we have been missing for so long now! Being able to sit on the Balcony overlooking Esplanade Ave and the Jazz Museum and hearing all the music from Frenchment Street is a special experience. I hope we get the opportunity to welcome you back when your travels bring you to New Orleans again!

If you are ok with staying in a resort that isn't fancy, the Monnaire is a great place to stay while visiting New Orleans and the French Quarter. The location is probably the best aspect, but the rooms are comfortable and you have the ability to do light cooking in the room. But most people come to New Orleans to sample all of the great food at the eating establishments. So eating in your room should probably be limited to snacks or reheating leftovers.
I would recommend Monnaie for locations and value. Also, some rooms have better soundproofing from the nearby daily train horn than others.

At south end of Esplanade on east side of Quarter, I was concerned about security. Stay in Quarter or on Frenchman and shud be fine. Ms. Susan Brown and staff were so warm and inviting that within minutes I truly felt at home! We had a i bdrm suite, with jacuzzi bath and kitchenette between bdrm and lvg rm. All basics provided, like microwave, frig, also pots, pans, dishes, including coffee for morning start. Rooms open out to open air atriums. Limited free parking on ground floor. 6 block walk to Jackson Square. Wonderfully refreshing stay. Highly recommend!

They don't clean rooms everyday. They want you to request if you want your room cleaned for an extra $10. If you need clean towels you need to put them outside your door in the basket otherwise you will not get clean towels. When we checked in the room was not even vacuumed. The garage was full so you have to find your own parking. The stuff is rude and not helpful. Rooms smell bad and carpet is so old and dirty it is plain scary. Very noisy you can hear train horns all night as it is right next to the railroad. The hot water heater tank is limited so not enough hot water. The blanket on the bed was dirty I don't think they wash them either. The tv is so small you can't even see anything from the bed.

Front desk told us they would waive the $50 cleaning fee if we extended our stay, then waited a week and raised the rate and charged us, despite the fact that we didn't use any cleaning services our entire stay. The staff at this hotel are shady, greedy and untrustworthy. If you stay here, check your final bill and make sure they don't add hidden fees or try to double charge you.

We had a good experience at the Hotel. It is right across from the French Market. The streetcar is right across the street. There is a good supermarket called Roberts about six blocks away. They have a washer and Dryer that uses 4 quarters each for a load. The bed was comfy. The bathtub was comfy. On the second d floor is a very pleasant balcony to sit and play a game, eat enjoy the outside. very nice and helpful staff. They lent us an umbrella when it rained.

The Hotel de la Monnaie is a beautiful and friendly place to stay. This was my first time visiting New Orleans and after this experience, I definitely plan to return. The location is very convenient because it is within walking distance of all parts of the French Quarter while being just outside of it which provides a peaceful getaway.

For many, it takes just one visit to fall in love with New Orleans. (that is what happend to me!). This older hotel has the best location - close and walkable to Frenchman street, French Market and French Quarter. Two indoor courtyards, one with a soaking fountain and interior charm of traditional New Orleans accomodations. We had a one bedroom suite. The bathroom, although small, is well designed with everything needed for our stay. We did not cook (too many great restaurants to try) but there was a cooktop, microwave and small refrigerator. Coffee provided for first two days. Quiet at night. Friendly and hospitable front desk staff. Very clean. Newer TVs in both rooms. Couch and mattress could use replacement.

The Hotel is a perfect location for all we wanted to do in this great city. Using it as a timeshare exchange, we were a little early in checking in and our room wasn't ready. No problem.....Delilah and Susan (thank you ladies) were able to move us into another room (511) that overlooked the Jazz Museum, the city, the river and bridge. A comfortale bed, 2 burner stove, microwave (used to warm up King Cake and deli-made muffalettas), and instant oatmeal (not here to cook as we're in New Orleans), small fridge, and coffeemaker (for delicious Community Coffee) are in the room. A comfortable living room with a small dining table was just fine for our needs. Yes....the trains do run nearby but we were able to deal with the occassional noise. The trolley is about 100 yards away to connect you to Canal St., etc. but it's an easy walk to everything in the French Quarter. And there are so many great clubs within a quarter mile or so of the hotel. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. We could definitley see a return visit.

As you’ll see if other reviews, this hotel is an amazing location- right at the tram and the edge of the French quarter so you’re near the action but the actual hotel is nice and quiet. Everything is clean and staff is friendly. The rooms are mini-apartments with multiple bedrooms, living rooms and a kitchenette. Had all amenities we’d need, with an iron and things to cook with etc. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the furniture and carpet are a bit dated, so it just looks a little old. Also you can’t open the blinds filmy so not much sun in the living room. But everything was clean and worked. So if you are booking a place for the interior aesthetic probably not the place for you. But if you want something in an amazing location at a really great price that’s clean and friendly, I definitely recommend this hotel

Answer from Kelly D

There are maids that come through daily and we did request and receive more towels. I do not believe there is room service for food, as there is no restaurant , cafe or self serve food station that we saw in the common area. The room is clean on the surface. Bathroom, kitchenette, bedding, furniture were clean and dust free, but you could tell that there hadn’t been a deep clean into the corners and there were dust shadows where the air vents blew air. Hope this helps
