Relax to the sounds of fountains in front and back gardens and maybe the sound of a harp playing from he music parlor. The hostess is a native New Orleanian who enjoys discussing the history of New Orleans. She is also interested in exchanging cultural information with guests from the US and abroad. The home is blocks from both Tulane and Loyola Universities. It is also six blocks from Magazine street famous for boutique shops and restaurants. Guests may take the St. Charles Ave. streetcar or the Magazine St. bus to the French Quarter. At Audubon Park House, guests may enjoy the experience of living as a native in one of most stately and non commercial neighborhoods of the historical city of New Orleans..

Neighbourhood
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.

Barbara, our hostess, was more than helpful arranging for our week-long stay working at Tulane Special Collections. We were in her "cottage" in the garden, created out of a storage shed but lovely and comfortable, (bedroom, shower, kitchen, upstairs loft for kids, etc.) The house is four blocks from the St. Charles streetcar line so the whole city is easily accessible. Continental breakfast was large and varied, always included fresh fruit salad. The cost is very competitive. We talked with other in-the-house guests and they were mostly repeat visitors.

This is a lovely traditional home in the Audubon Park neighborhood. Keep the house number with you, since it's not marked with a sign. Inside you will find a traditionally laid out and eclectically decorated fine old residence. Barbara Martin, the wonderful owner and hostess, is welcoming and a lovely person to talk with--she'll connect you with whatever you need to know about New Orleans. She graciously accommodated us when we ended up three instead of two people, giving us a room with an extra twin bed. Her breakfast service is Continental-- breads, fruits, hot coffee and tea, and pleasant conversation. Whenever we repaired back to our room after a day on the town, it felt like coming home to our own residence. Not a hotel--a place to relax and reside. Loved the entire experience. Check it out!

We were in the front room in what seemed like a maze. I would love to see all the rooms but it was pretty well booked up. Our room was spacious and comfortable with beautiful antique furniture. We only encountered other guests briefly until the last morning when several of us had breakfast together. It was one of those B&B times when the company was as interesting as the sightseeing. Barbara is a woman worth getting to know!

I was luckily to be able to stay in the guest house behind the main house. We had cocktail hour on that lovely porch.
Barbara was a friendly informative hostess and provided a Continental breakfast.
The neighborhood was convenient to buses and streetcar. So much better and more relaxing than the large hotels we usually stay in!

This was my first B&B experience and I was pleasantly surprised. Barbara, the owner, is great. She provided us with several suggestions for food, entertainment, etc. The house is located in a beautiful neighborhood that we thoroughly enjoyed walking around. The rooms were nice and the bathroom was clean. We also enjoyed the breakfast.
