Great location with access to parking. Lots of music and food options. Cozy hotel & RJ at reception was great. Rooms were exceptionaly clean. Only complaint was that room 302 in right on Frenchman st. And the noise was very loud well past 4:00am.

Management response:

Kloupe321, Thank you so much for taking the time to write. It is true that noise is part and parcel of our area of the city, the music area, so one should be aware that the farther back the room the quieter the experience. Again, thanks for writing.

We will certainly go to the Frenchman Hotel again. Recommend asking about different room locations when making reservations. Rooms towards front will experience relatively loud music across the street.

Great staff particularly Adrianna. Good blues club close by - BMC, I think. Convenient location within easy walking distance of Jackson Square and great French Quarter restaurants. Will always check availability here first when visiting NO!

When we visit New Orleans, we always find that we prefer to stay at the Frenchmen. This historic small hotel is clean and very attractive. You can tell that great care has been taken to decorate each room with just the right blend of antiques, current fabrics, and linens. The staff is very friendly, and will take the time to...

My friend and I booked this hotel for a little get away and it was very lovely. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even let us switch rooms late at night to be closer to the pool. Room was small but it worked for us. We will definitely go back again in the future.

Loved the location, easy to get there away from downtown traffic, very friendly staff, the cozy hotel. Best entertainment just down the street, heated pool, hot tub, nice little breakfast. Even found a good parking just down the road.

This hotel is GREAT if you are traveling as a couple or with friends. It's not so great for families. It's located right down the road from the French Market; which is great, but it's close to some sketchy areas. Also, it's right near bars - great if you are there to party, but don't plan on going to sleep...

Rachel, Thank you so much for writing. We do appreciate it. You are right that it is a noisy area of the city as it is the heart of the music scene (the reason people come here) but as to being near 'sketchy' areas I beg to differ. We are an urban environment and I'm sure to someone unacquainted it...

The king room with balcony is legit. don't stay anywhere else on Frenchmen. Parking is secure, the pool is nice at 2am, the balcony is prime hangin. Only con- Loud bar outside late at night (fine if you're drunk and passing out, I didn't even notice)

Allison, Thank you so much for writing. We're very happy to hear that you had a good time. Loud music is the price paid for staying in the heart of the music industry so we're happy you understood. Caveat on the parking though, it is limited (lots behind hotel though) and it is not for large trucks. Come see us...

I have stayed at The Frenchmen several times and enjoy the location, value, and cordial service employees. I normally choose a standard queen room which has a very good value, but this time I selected the King Suite. The Frenchmen is old, but well appointed which gives it a unique and special ambiance. The rooms are smaller than most hotels,...

This hotel is historic/cool, simple, neat, clean and secure. We spent the Saturday night after Christmas at this hotel because it is at the start of Frenchmen Street - and we wanted to be walking distance to the best music in NOLA. It was just as we'd hoped. Registration and check-out CSRs (and cleaning staff) were friendly and helpful. Breakfast...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
