We were very pleased with our stay at The Chimes over Easter weekend! Charles and Jill were the consummate hosts. They were very knowledgeable of the city with its many attractions and events. Room number 2 was perfect for our needs with plenty of space! Internet service was both fast and reliable. The daily housekeeping service was not expected, but certainly...

I went to Nola for a convention, my coworker and I decided to step away from the hotels and try The Chimes. Needless to say it was perfect. Super clean, they refreshed my room daily and even had great amenities provided such as shampoo, conditioner and body-wash. The breakfast has a variety of cheeses, fruit, yogurt and best of all...

What a compliment to the Chimes coming from a well known GM of Hotels. You got the experience we are trying to deliver to all those who choose something different, and deeper, then the tourist area of New Orleans. Being where the locals live, eat and shop, the quality of life becomes far more apparent. Thanks for choosing the Chimes...

We went as a small group to the restaurant. The food was very good! The banana foster was excellent!!! The view from the balcony was amazing! It was a beautiful day and you could see across to the water.

I love the fact that you thought our food was good, the balcony amazing and the water beautiful, but frankly........we don't have any of those things. You may have confused us with another venue? Thanks for the 5 stars!!!

An exceptional place to stay with a most gracious and informative hostess in Jill. The BnB catered to all our needs and Jill provided all and any info we needed about NOLA. Also a wonderful location so close to the Trolley and many restaurants.

First, we did not have the pleasure of working with Jill during our stay, however, Carol and Jill's husband, Charles were more than attentive to our needs. Carol greeted us upon our arrival and took a good 20 minutes to half hour to review a map of New Orleans and give us her (and Jill's) insights to the things we...

First, my apology to you for not being on property when you visited the Chimes. I was in California at a hospitality conference where I learned much about running our business. Thank you for posting this detailed account of your visit with us and mentioning the rooftop bar at the Pontchartrain Hotel. You are most correct, it's a lovely view...

During the 4 years our daughter attended Tulane University we stayed in many small hotels and B&Bs. We fell in love with the city and visited ALOT. When it was time to meet our (now grown) daughter there we knew right where to stay - the Chimes. It is our very favorite place to stay. It captures the feel and...

My husband and I stayed here three nights, and loved every minute! Jill is incredibly knowledgeable, and an excellent hostess - we so enjoyed chatting with her over breakfast, and were totally comfortable asking her advice on everything from transportation to local attractions. Our room was very cozy, prettily decorated with soft, comfortable linens and plenty of pillows. The lush,...

We were there for business and I am already planning my return. It was unfortunate that we couldn't truly take advantage of this lovely B&B. Jill was super accommodating prior to our trip and welcomed our early arrival due to travel constraints. I was warmly greeted by Charles who invited me to sit and eat even though our check-in wasn't...

All the rooms are well appointed and nice. Room 2 is the largest. We stayed in #4 which has a nice four-poster bed. The breakfast of fresh bakery pastries and terrific coffee with fruit and egg if you want is to die for. The courtyard is what makes this place so special. The landscaping, soft chimes and lovely setting along...

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
