This is a large hotel at the edge of the French Quarter. I believe it takes up an entire city block. My room was on the third floor in the "Old Section" overlooking the Orpheum Theater. It was quiet with a couple of maintenance issues that I turned in upon my checking out. They did not adversely affect my stay....

The Roosevelt Hotel was the premier hotel in New Orleans for most of the 20th century. It is well situated near Canal Street and the French Quarter. Whereas, it is not the most luxurious hotel in New Orleans, there is plenty of history to wet your appetite of what to expect on your visit to the city. This is a...

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
