After spending five days/four nights at The Roosevelt, we concluded that it was a good place to rest, rejuvenate and work out, but go elsewhere to eat and drink. Our room was comfortable enough, and although we picked a top-floor room (14th floor) to try to avoid the infamous New Orleans street noises at night, there was still considerable noise...

The Roosevelt needs to hire a designer for their Christmas display to live up to the reputation it has enjoyed for many years. It used to be an absolute wonder (back in the "fake snow" days) now it's merely a pretty display, indistinguishable from any other upscale hotel design. The hotel itself is splendid with a superior level of service...

From the moment you walk in and see the block-long, spectacular, chandaliered lobby, the staff is determined to make your stay memorable. This lovely Waldorf is located just at -- but wonderfully not in the quarter and well located for most of this city's sights.

This is an awesome hotel (beautiful at Christmas) with large rooms and a great staff. It is within walking distance to Bourbon Street ,Harrahs, the Cathedral etc. The only downside is the location is a little seedy out the back side of the hotel. If you stick to the front side entrance/exit you are great. Well worth the price. If...

Louisiana politicians used to cut deals here while getting tipsy at the Sazerac Bar. Rooms are cozy and worth every penny. Within walking distance to St. Charles Avenue streetcar and French Quarter. Domenica is on the property and is one of the finest Italian restaurants in New Orleans.

This location is very accommodating when going to a play at the Saenger Theater. Within walking distance of everything. Enjoyed the hotel, the people and the environment. Any time we're going to a play, we will stay at the Roosevelt. The bed is so comfortable; it is like sleeping on air.

I have wanted to stay at the Roosevelt ever since I read about Huey Long's exploits at and affinity for this hotel. It certainly is a classic New Orleans (or any city) place to stay. My only complaint of the entire stay occurred at the beginning. There are several steps leading from the street to the lobby and the three...

Hotel was on point! Every bit from the check in to the check out was top notch. Christmas time decorations were beyond incredible. Service and restaurants were impeccable. If I could say anything I wish to be better about this hotel was the size of the rooms.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
