My wife and I checked in for a long weekend. Veronica never acknowledged my Hilton Diamond status, so I inquired about an upgrade. Veronica informed us that the hotel was totally booked for the night and would be for our entire stay. We had friends and family join us for cocktails that afternoon and upon seeing the hotel lobby and Sazerac bar, the other 3 parties we were traveling with wanted to move over to the Roosevelt. We had some serious history buffs in our group. We told them the hotel was fully booked and would be for the rest of our stay. They were very disappointed. The next morning we were awakened by a lot of noise and found out our hotel room was situated directly beside the housekeeping closet. Unfortunately this would be the case every morning of our stay. Housekeeping texted me and we scheduled our service each day. Aside from being quite loud, housekeeping did a great job. The gentleman at Teddy's was lovely as were the staff at Sazerac. At check out on our final day unfortunately Veronica was at the desk. She never asked how our stay went and could have cared less if we were satisfied with our experience or not. I have been a Hilton Honors member for 15 years and have never encountered service like that and I certainly expect more from a Waldorf. Veronica lacks the polish one usually encounters at a property of this caliber. It is a shame that Veronica is the first and last face we saw. She is there to collect a paycheck and is completely oblivious. Had it not been for her, I would have given the hotel 5.…
Oh yeah I kicked up my heels to be a high society queen at the Roosevelt. Oooh it felt good to be wrapped in luxury and for Covid rates around $150 I just could not pass it up. This hotel is historic and has a beautiful lobby with gold adorning walls. It feels like much has not changed from its past. The rooms are relatively small and not as opulent but wrapping myself in the comfy bed was worth every penny.
The hotel is nicely refurbished a few years ago. The common areas are still very grand. The rooms have all the modern features and electronic conveniences. It is in deed up to the usual Waldorf standard. I understand that standard room is kind of small and definitely not as roomy as the room in Windsor Court. I cannot make a comment since I was lucky to be upgraded to a one bedroom one and half bath suite. That is really roomy. The hotel probably have less than 40% occupancy so a lot of areas are not open. Cannot count against them. Covid 19 sanitization is up to par, A reassuring fact
I am sure this hotel was the top of the food chain at some point but it’s not even close by today’s standards. This is a glorified Hilton Garden Inn in the shell of an incredibly historic hotel. The Ritz Carlton is across the street and I have stayed there very recently and that crushes the Roosevelt, it’s not even in the same league. It is disappointing that the reviews pitch this as one of the top hotels in New Orleans because it isn’t. There is only one person for the entire hotel parking cars and helping with bags. That one person is very nice and is working hard but it’s impossible for him to take care of the entire hotel by himself. This is not the case at other top hotels in NOLA, even now. Room service is only available on weekends and it’s a very limited menu. Teddys cafe is a small coffee house and that is the only option for most of the day. It is manned, again, by one hard working person who can’t possibly take care of the restaurant by himself. Even here there are very limited food options. The lobby area is great. The shell of the rooms are nice but very tired. We had a suite and the furniture was old, tired and stained and even in its finest day wasn’t that great. Wires and cables exposed throughout the room. No extra bedding. Shower is very small. Limited toiletries provided-like what you would find at a Hilton Garden. The location is good and very close to the CBD and Bourbon. But if you want this location and luxury the Ritz is the place. If you don’t want luxury there are plenty of options close by in better shape than the Roosevelt. I am a Platinum Hilton member and really wish Hilton did a better job with a hotel that has such potential. I do feel another company, more focused on details and service, would do a much better job with this hotel. As a side note there is plenty of self parking right across the street for $20 rather than paying the $53 for valet. …
I stayed for 2 nights and I really liked the hotel. The shower was great, bed was comfortable, everyone was friendly, got early check in, and Jessica Gillio was extremely helpful. I asked Jessica to help me get roses and rose petals for Valentines. Everything was set up and ready by the time we came back from lunch. I only have 2 complaints about my stay. Windows were leaking and my room was never serviced even though I asked for it to be serviced daily.
