My husband and I stayed in the Barbados Suite at B&W for a momentous (50th birthday) celebration. We arrived early on account of our flight and were able to check in a little earlier than the standard check-in time (bonus!). Tom and Dana were awesome: they gave us an unexpected bottle of champagne and some cupcakes with a celebratory note....

This was my first time to stay at the B&W Courtyards in the Marigny section just outside the French Quarter. I am an anthropologist who has been conducting researching in the area since Katrina, so have made dozens of trips over these 11 years. I've met incredible people and absorbed a lot of the cultural vibe that distinguishes this city...

The title tells it all - I love the location of this cottage; for my purposes and interests it is ideal. It is a short walk to the French Quarter, Treme and Bywater. It is in the midst of Marigny and Frenchman Street is 5 minutes away with it's myriad jazz clubs. The best coffee around is at The Orange...

We have stayed at B&W courtyards three times and it gets better and better each time!! Tom and Dana make you feel like family and their breakfasts are scrumptious!!!! It's walking distance from everything! I never feel threatened walking back at night and I couldn't think of a better place to stay while in NOLA!

What a fabulous place. It's a 5 minute walk from Frenchman street, and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Tom and Dana are perfect hosts. Our stay couldn't have been better. Of course, on top of that, Tom makes a breakfast that can't be beat: Fresh fruit every day, and then eggs or pancakes that rival the best restaurant breakfasts,...

A friend and I first stayed at this B&B in 2012. It is charmingly quirky quintessential New Orleans. It is places like these that made me a convert to B&Bs over cookie cutter chain hotels. Located in the historic Faubourg Marigny with its jazz clubs and less touristy restaurants, it is also within a safe walking distance to the French...

We stayed for six nights in the Second Floor Suite and it was wonderful. The bedroom and sitting room were both beautiful (and very clean) and the newly remodeled private bath was stunning! The room featured wifi, a mini fridge, and was very quiet. The room also features a quiet newer heating/cooling system and we used both since temps ranged...

This place is beautiful but it's Tom and Dana's hospitality that makes it a treasure. We got married while in New Orleans. They made our honeymoon even more special. We will definitely be back for an anniversary trip. The cottage was wonderful and the hot tub is a great relaxation treat after many long days of walking. The honesty fridge...

We stayed for 3 nights at the B&W courtyard and it was great! We got a heartly welcome, a lot of good tips for sight seeing and concerts and finally breakfast was outstanding. We only can recommend to stay there and enjoy the hospitality of Tom and Dana. Got there and enjoy it!

Looks like a workshop from the outside but the rooms are quite normal! We had the Front Carriage room because of the warning that fountains might keep light sleepers awake (in fact they didn’t seem very loud). (Points to the hosts for mentioning this on their website.) We were worried that the road would be noisy but it wasn’t a...

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
