Thanks so much to the staff at The Edgewater for the amazing hospitality. We absolutely adored our room with amazing views of the lake and the beautiful Edgewater courtyard. I called ahead to set up flowers to be delivered to our room upon check in for my girlfriends birthday. I had reserved a standard room but we were upgraded to...

I'm originally from Madison and was home for Thanksgiving to visit family but I prefer to stay downtown vs with family in the suburbs. The location of the Edgewater is close to everything and a beautiful location, nice view (maybe more beautiful in the summer...). It was quiet, very comfortable bed, big shower, top notch service, free wi-fi. Underground connection...

I stayed at the Edgewater for a weekend and it was the best hotel experience I ever had. From the exquisite room with the view of the lake, to the top flight meals, to the very pleasant staff, I couldn't ask for more. I look forward to my next trip to madison.

My wife and I stayed a couple nights to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. The hotel is beautifully appointed and features breathtaking views of Lake Mendota and the capitol building. Service at the front desk was on point, our room was immaculate, and the concierge was even kind enough to leave a chilled bottle of champagne and handwritten note congratulating...

We went to the Edgewater for a quick one night trip and wished we could have stayed longer. The holiday decor was beautiful and we had a lot of fun exploring this great property. Our room was comfortable with a great view of the lake. The staff was so welcoming, especially the concierge, Eileen! Augies with friends pre and post-dinner...

My friends & I enjoyed our stay at the renovated Edgewater. It's a historic, ideally-located hotel in a classic college town. However, the $15/day "resort fee" was a little odd (didn't feel like we were at a resort) and the $18/day parking fee is not in line with college town pricing. Still, a very buck (& convenient) place to stay.

Check in is easy and convenient. Onsite underground self parking or valet. Wonderful restaurant overlooking the water or fab restaurants with a few blocks around the capitol, great walking through University campus. All in all a great stop on our way to Chicago for Thanksgiving. Made the drive into Miracle Mile a lot easier.

Twelve of us went to Madison for a Fall getaway and stayed at the Edgewater. It literally is on the edge of Lake Mendota. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The staff in the bar and coffee shop were very friendly and competent There is a spa fee of $15 you can't get out of. Turns out besides the...

This is a beautiful, luxurious hotel with a great location in downtown Madison just off the square. The hotel is very comfortable, safe and quiet. There is an additional "resort charge" of $15 added to the room, which I was unaware was going to be added. Not sure what this was for?

Dear Amy P, Thank you so much for your review on your stay at The Edgewater. We love the location of our hotel as it is just a quick hop from the Capitol Building, UW Campus, and State Street. This hotel is a beautiful property right on the gorgeous Lake Mendota. The lobby is updated and elegant and the guest rooms are lovely and spacious and so are the bathrooms. The restaurant was top notch. We loved having Jeff as our waiter in the morning and the breakfast food was outstanding two days in a row. We ate there...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As Madison's first and only AAA Four Diamond property, The Edgewater is the proud revival of an historic hotel, right on the shores of Lake Mendota, adjacent to the University of Wisconsin and steps from the state Capitol, in the heart of downtown Madison. The restored property maintains the classic facade of its predecessor, now called The Langdon Building, and a new tower, The Wisconsin Building, all with completely new interiors, several restaurants, a magnificent spa, ballrooms, and a large plaza that connects both hotel guests and the public with the beautiful waters of the lake. The hotel has 202 guest rooms, the majority offering gorgeous lake views, including presidential suites and studios with kitchenettes. The Edgewater Spa provides fitness and personal training overlooking Lake Mendota, as well as full service, customized hair, makeup, nail services and relaxing massage. Restaurant options range from The Statehouse for distinctive dining, to The Boathouse, a bar and restaurant in the great Wisconsin tradition of casual waterfront spots, The Icehouse for very casual dining, and The Cafe, for coffee and lighter fare throughout the day. Meeting and banquet facilities range from The Grand Ballroom and Mendota Ballroom, both in the Wisconsin Building, to The Red Crown Club on top of the Langdon Building, offering versatility and spectacular views of Lake Mendota. The Plaza lies at the heart of The Edgewater between The Langdon Building and the Wisconsin Building, almost an acre, open to the public with regularly scheduled outdoor events, concerts and celebrations, converting in winter to a skating rink. ... more   less
