The Heritage Tea Factory is a converted tea factory. It is unusual and a facinating hotel. The rooms are well appointed, the dining room and food selection is excellent, and there are a couple of bars. There is also an old railway carriage which is used for a la carte meals in the evening (Bookings only). There are lovely grounds...

When you enter the lobby and see the refurb of the old tea factory, it looks lovely. The rooms are shabby and small and uncomfortable and need a total refurb, especially the bathrooms. The food was nice and all the staff were lovely. Glad we only stayed one night.

This is a fun stay in an amazing building with very good staff and when the weather clears fantastic views down onto the tea plantations. Rooms could do with some modernisation but have lots of character and comfortable beds. Dinner in the railway carriage was excellent and is highly recommended.

We arrived in fog and this remained whilst we were there. We had been on the train from Kandy which was well worth doing although a good 4 hours but we saw all the plantations on the way. The journey there is a bit windy and steep especially when we got higher up into the clouds(felt like). This hotel is an...

We have just been there for two nights. As people say, it is a fascinating building, high up at nearly 7,000ft. It doesn't claim to be 5*, and remember that is about facilities, not levels of service. At that altitude the weather was like that of a nice English summer day, and the whole place is surrounded by tea bushes....

Attracted by the reviews and the location of the hotel, on arrival the way in which the former factory has been adapted particularly the reception area gives a good first impression. You feel almost privileged to be there. However further investigation revealed uncomfortable beds ( request to place a topper to soften the matress), and a restuarant where the buffet...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of our tour of Sri Lanka. It is a very good hotel, providing comfortable rooms in a converted Tea Factory. The location is stunning with beautiful views and near to Nuwara Eliya. The food was of a high standard and the service was excellent. Laundry service was efficient and not...

Loved this hotel. Charming, quirky and unique. As you are 6000ft above sea level, you'll need some warmer clothes, temperature dropped to around 14 degrees while we enjoyed our two night stay. We ate A la carte first night and had a lovely curry, offered better value and looked way nicer than the buffet. We ate in the railway carriage night...

If you are in the Nuwara Eliya region this hotel is an absolute must. As the name suggests this is a converted tea factory and from the outside is rather unprepossessing. Once through the door however the effect is stunning. At the bottom of the central atrium is the restored old tea factory steam engine (turned on every evening for...
