Former residence of British Governor set in very well maintained gardens opposite race course and 10 minute walk to Victoria Park and city centre. Rooms huge but soulless. Antiquated plumbing and electrical installations. Wifi available although had to ask for password. Restaurant was ok, breakfast...More
It was a wonderful stay right next to the Nuwaraeliya city in such a glamorous bungalow. The staff is really friendly and they always get back to you quickly if you request room service etc. The rooms are nice and clean as well as with...More
We had dinner here on a Saturday night. There weren't a lot of people here so we pretty much had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The waitstaff were quite helpful and sweet. The food was actually quite good and quite reasonable. My husband loved their...More
Went for dinner at Ceybank Rest . Beautiful colonial day building with a nice garden. The waiter received us with a warm heart. Apart from five of us, there were only two other people who came for dining. We ordered our special food without salt....More
Came here on off chance for a long weekend and it turned out to be a great decision. Lovely old colonial hotel with faubulous gardens. The staff were fantastic - very attentive but not overly so - just seemed they genuinely wanted us to have...More

They were not very responsive when we told them that our children had fallen ill. We had asked if there was a doctor on call for the hotel. They just said, no and offered nothing further until prompted. They did state that they were short staffed as some of their people were ill also. We did not find that comforting and were surprised that a hotel of that size, age and quality did not have a doctor on call. We also believe that the water served in the dining room was the source of the children's illness. The adults had gotten up to go to the buffet line and the staff gave the table water to the kids to drink instead of the bottle water we were sticking to. The room service was lacking as we would order and some times it would come and some times it would not. Sometimes a partial order would arrive with out explanation. When we were leaving I had to go down to the desk and go over my room service bills and tell the desk that at times the kitchen just did not send up the food that we ordered. It was with out rhyme or reason. For example, they sent up a large bowl of ice cream before the meal that we ordered. Like it wasn't going to melt before we got our meal !
The illness continued through our party even after we left the hotel and returned home. It really put a damper on the whole trip. Not sure we would stay at this hotel again.
