We were there December 2014 and Sri Lanka had unprecedented rains, which nearly washed out our sight seeing at Nuwara Eliya, but the hostess/manager at this hotel made up for all the disappointment with a very friendly attitude and excellent food, tweaked to suit our personal tastes. Wish I could recall her name! We had clouds outside our window every...

A small family run hotel with very friendly staff and a good restaurant with a superb view on the city. the family room was a bit humid and dark but we slept well and were in a very quiet part of the city. The only slight negative is the last few meters on the road as it gets muddy and...

Worth a visit for the view alone, simple breathtaking. There's a modern architecturally design platform that juts out into the steep valley. It's great for taking photos and helps to show the scale of the vista. The architecture of the hotel and restaurant itself is modern, clean and minimalist, a nice mixture of polished concrete, glass and mahogany. The food...

Very pleasant staff. You need a sense of humour to stay here. If you do you will have a laugh. Be advised that this place is walking distance to town but a fair trek back up a hill back. Also on our first night there was some really bad and loud kareoke till 11.30 pm coming from a nearby hotel.

Not sure where to start with this review.... our stay was definitely an amusing experience. Visited with our two young adult 'children' staying in two rooms. Turned up on the doorstep without a reservation to find the staff just about heading off as there were no other guests. We struck a deal, were given a complimentary cup of tea each...

Our train from Colombo was delayed due to bad weather and when we finally reached the hotel, which is located at the top of Haddon Hill Road, we found it was closed for the night. Sounding the horn of our hired vehicle repeatedly, woke up one of the resident staff and we were able to check-in. The Hotel's Manager was...

Hotel has excellent location dot on the road facing valley and ramboda fall, though it is far from water fall but excellent location. Food not good at all , choose this hotel for location only. Management has to look into its food part they need improvement. Room good but I found lights to be very dim need better lights.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tea Bush Hotel is a boutique type hotel of 10 comfortable rooms, situated in Nuwara-eliya, the little England of Sri Lanka. The original planter’s granite bungalow, “Shelborne”, as it was then known built in the 1800’s, where most of the hotel rooms are housed adding to the old world charm of the hotel, was the residence of the superintendent of Haddon Hill Tea Estate. All rooms are provided with hot and cold water and room heaters are optional. Ample parking space coupled with drivers’ quarters is a boon for the tour operators. The large well appointed restaurant serves delicious food for both in-house guests as well as walk-in guests. Room service is also available on request. The limited number of rooms makes every guest a special one for the hotel. The high elevation of the hotel above the town makes the view from the rooms and the restaurant of the surrounding hills, Nuwara-eliya town and the Lake Gregory to be quite breathtaking. Mt. Pedro or Pidurutalagala, the highest peak in the Island is close at hand. One could get a grand view of Adams Peak or Sri Pada, the famed holy mountain by climbing the Single Tree Hill just behind the hotel.Guests on their own may visit the Victoria Park and the Lake Gregory which are just walking distance from the hotel, while hiking trips may be arranged by the hotel to the surrounding hills. Guided day tours may be arranged on request to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens with its famed rose beds or to the Horton Plains, the National Park among the clouds at an elevation of 7000 feet, and perhaps a peep down the Worlds End, the 3000 feet sheer precipice. All this would make your stay at the Tea Bush Hotel linger in your memories for long years to come. ... more   less
